What You'll Do
In this role, you will contribute to sustaining and quality improvements across Teradata database systems, ensuring reliability, correctness, and customer trust for mission-critical, large-scale workloads.
You will focus on diagnosing and resolving customer-impacting issues, particularly within Teradata's strategic data access and lakehouse integration capabilities, including NOS (Native Object Store), OFS (Open File System), and OTF (Open Table Format). Own and support DSA for NOS/OFS/OTF, including the B/G migration process.
You will:
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve customer-impacting issues across DBS and strategic subsystems including NOS, OFS, and OTF.
- Analyze issues involving SQL Engine, data access paths, execution behavior, cloud storage integration, resource management, and cross-component interactions.
- Develop and deliver high-quality code fixes, diagnostic enhancements, and product improvements.
- Partner with SQLE, PDE, Storage, NOS, OFS, OTF, Cloud, and Performance Engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Support customer escalations and contribute to resolution of high-priority production incidents.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring customer issues.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering and System Performance Engineering teams to improve product quality and reliability.
- Improve diagnostic tools, troubleshooting methodologies, and sustaining engineering practices.
- Contribute to release readiness activities, including validation, risk assessment, and customer impact evaluation.
- Build technical expertise in NOS, OFS, and OTF while expanding knowledge of DBS internals and related platform components.
- Share technical knowledge through documentation, troubleshooting guides, and collaboration with team members.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing or supporting database systems, distributed systems, or large-scale data platforms.
- Working knowledge of Teradata DBS internals and architecture.
- Experience supporting, developing, or troubleshooting one or more strategic Teradata subsystems including NOS, OFS, or OTF.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues in production environments.
- Understanding of database execution behavior, concurrency, resource management, reliability, and performance fundamentals.
- Experience analyzing logs, traces, dumps, diagnostics, and system-level evidence to identify root causes.
- Experience developing software using C, C++, Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
What You'll Bring
- Practical experience with Teradata DBS architecture and internal platform components.
- Experience supporting or developing NOS, OFS, or OTF capabilities, including troubleshooting database engine, storage access, metadata processing, or Java UDF execution paths.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across database, storage, cloud, networking, and platform technology layers.
- Experience supporting customer-facing production issues.
- Familiarity with object storage technologies, cloud-native data access patterns, and lakehouse architectures.
- Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Java, with solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization
- Experience using observability, diagnostics, and performance analysis tools..
- Ability to distinguish customer-visible symptoms from underlying technical causes.
- Experience working in globally distributed engineering environments.
- Strong ownership mindset and commitment to product quality and customer success.
- Flexibility to work US business hours and support third-shift schedules when business needs require.
