The Principal Data Scientist (Pre-Sales) is a senior and experienced data science professional. This role provides expert advice on analytics and how it can be applied across different industries and business use cases.

You will work closely with sales and account teams to help customers clearly define their business challenges and identify practical analytics solutions using Teradata technology. The focus is on solutions that are innovative, valuable, and realistic to implement.

What You'll Do

• Provide executive-level pre-sales support to Teradata account teams, helping them explain and sell advanced analytics solutions that drive Teradata software sales.
• Act as a trusted advisor to executives and senior leaders, offering strategic consulting on analytics and AI.
• Support Proof of Concept (PoC) and Proof of Value (PoV) projects to demonstrate how analytics use cases can deliver real business value and why Teradata solutions are effective.
• Collaborate with account teams and Analytics Industry Specialists to design new AI and analytics offerings that match industry trends and customer needs.

Who You’ll Work With

Reporting to the Senior Director of the APJ region Data Science team, the successful candidate will work with other expert team members.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

• Have proven hands-on experience of complex analytics at scale for example in the areas of IoT and sensor data.
• Understand and be able to implement Teradata BYOM products
• Know the PMML and ONNX model portability standards
• Have experience with Teradata partner’s analytical products, Cloud Service providers such as AzureML and Sagemaker and partner products such as Dataiku and DataRobot
• Have strong hands-on programming skills in at least one major analytic programming language and/or tool in addition to SQL

What You’ll Bring

• An expertise in Data Science with a strong theoretical grounding in statistics, advanced analytics, and machine learning and at least 5 years real-world experience in the application of advanced analytics.
• A passion about knowledge sharing and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development.
• A Belief in Teradata's Analytic solutions and services and be a commitment to working with the product, engineering, and consulting teams to ensure that they continue to lead the market
• An ability to turn complex technical subject matter into relatable easy to digest and understand content for senior audiences.
• a degree level qualification (preferably Masters or PHD) in Statistics, Data Science, the physical or biological sciences or a related discipline
