About the Role

We're hiring a Principal Architect to lead the architectural vision, design, and evolution of Teradata's core database platform at enterprise scale. This is a senior individual-contributor role for a deeply technical leader who can shape long-term platform strategy, set engineering standards, and influence outcomes across global teams. You'll be the highest-level technical authority on database internals, query optimization, and large-scale workload architecture—solving the problems that define what's possible in modern data platforms.

What You'll Do

• Architect at enterprise scale – Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Teradata core database architectures supporting massive, mission-critical workloads
• Own performance and reliability – Drive query performance tuning, workload management, and system reliability, ensuring high availability and operational excellence across global deployments
• Set technical strategy – Act as the principal database subject matter expert, guiding architectural decisions and shaping long-term platform evolution
• Lead through influence – Partner with engineering, analytics, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions
• Define what excellence looks like – Consistently deliver high-impact architectural outcomes, raise the engineering bar, and enable innovation across teams

Who You'll Work With

You'll join a high-performing, collaborative team of database and analytics professionals based in Hyderabad and across global locations. As a Principal Architect, you'll partner with engineering, analytics, infrastructure, and product teams on both regional and global initiatives. You'll work directly with senior technical leaders and executives, and report into the database and platform engineering organization.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

• 10+ years of experience in database engineering, database architecture, or enterprise data platforms, with a track record of architecting large-scale systems
• Deep expertise in database internals, SQL optimization, and workload management
• Advanced experience with query optimizer behavior and performance tuning in large-scale, distributed environments
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive communication skills

What You'll Bring

• Experience defining and implementing best practices for data governance, data integrity, and database security, including compliance with Indian and global standards
• Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and influence technical leaders, fostering a culture of architectural excellence and continuous improvement
• A proactive mindset for identifying performance and architectural risks and driving optimization initiatives at platform scale
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to bridge global teams, enabling alignment, standards, and knowledge sharing across geographies
