As an Engineering Director at Teradata, you will be a member of our internal Analytics team responsible for helping deliver solutions that we deploy internally for Teradata as well as externally for our end customers. In this role, you will work directly with Product Management to develop and deploy according to the product roadmap.

Role and Responsibilities

• Hire and develop a team of talented engineers
• Design, develop, deliver, and maintain features and applications to create positive customer impact
• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers and project leads to ensure a high level of work satisfaction, technical advancement, and progress towards individual career goals
• Provide architectural guidance/expertise and oversight to developed solutions
• Collaborate with Engineering organization for co-authored or closely aligned solutions
• Ensure that current team and company initiatives, mission, goals, and values are clear to each team member
• Facilitate clear communication and provide excellent direction and motivation to the team
• Implement current best practices to manage and build a high-performance engineering team
• Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
• Collaborate with Product Management and User Experience regarding product definition, schedule, scope, and project-related decisions
• Develop solutions that are high quality, scalable, reliable, and reusable
• Work collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum team to plan sprints, expand stories into tasks, work on removing impediments, and execute at top velocity
• Investigate technologies that can be leveraged to introduce new innovations
• Provide input into process improvement initiatives to improve quality and timeliness of deliverables with high predictability

 

 


Qualifications
• 10+ years of application development positions, architecting, and sales support for enterprise level technical solutions
• Strong communication skills – making the results real by making data available to users. This involves communicating the results of analysis clearly and effectively to both business and technical users in presentations. Lead the discussion and guide the integration of the data visualization layer with the underlying platform to best showcase the output of the data.
• In depth knowledge of analytical toolsets.
• Fluency in SQL
• Knowledge across multiple industries is a plus.
• Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
• Operational Experience with Architecture Principles, Advocated Positions, Design Patterns, and Implementation Alternatives.
• Previous experience implementing components within the Teradata Reference Information Architecture is a plus
• Work with the appropriate project management methodology (Agile or Waterfall) based upon customer and project requirements
