The Analytic Pre-Sales Solution Architect (SA) is a senior level position that leverages Big Data, relational, data management, Open Source and analytical technical knowledge to promote sales of Teradata analytical services, technology and solutions. The SA should have/will have an expert knowledge of Advanced Analytics, Big Data, Open Source, and data management. The SA articulates analytical vision, architectures and trends, and provides technical consulting as a trusted advisor to support sales and services activities. The SA establishes or enhances mid-level customer technical relationships, provides technical expertise on engagements and identifies new target opportunities within our accounts. When required, the SA will be expected to deliver high-quality, customer billable analytical consulting on service engagements and oversee the development of the analytical engagement model for additional services. In addition, the SA plays an active role in pre-sale and post-sale activity, ensuring a long-term partnership with Teradata customers

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader for analytical solutions and products to prospective and existing accounts
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment across a multitude of technical and business customers and prospects
  • Assisting with account qualification utilizing knowledge of industry solutions, data models & data volumes for the various types of financial accounts and applying this knowledge to determine applicability of Teradata’s offerings.
  • Leverage knowledge of open source and 3rd party products and solutions to drive development and deployment of analytical solutions and architectures
  • Demonstrating and utilizing knowledge of business problems of the Aerospace Industry
  • Articulating Teradata’s solutions to the business problems mentioned above using Teradata RDBMS, Teradata Aster, R, Hadoop, Spark, Open Source offers and other related 3rd party products and service offerings.
  • Work as a team to define and execute analytic solutions that address client use cases and business requirements using Python, PEARL, R, Relational and other analytical tools
  • Perform data wrangling and extract exploratory insights from big data
  • Engage in scientific inquiries to answer business questions
  • Partner with clients and data scientists to successfully deliver analytic solutions, including associated documentation and presentations.
  • Partner with engineering teams to bring analytic solutions to life.
  • Drafting high quality proposals for PS engagements.
  • Participating in PS engagements that position Teradata as a trusted adviser to our customers.
  • Timely, accurate administration & reporting (PSA, expenses, forecasts, etc.)
  • Contributing Knowledge Assets to the Teradata Knowledge Management System.
  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Client interface and consulting skills required
    • Self-starter with a thirst for continuous learning
    • Building robust mathematical models with tools such as R, Weka, MATLAB, SAS, Python, etc.
    • Exploring, manipulating, and creatively visualizing data to find new patterns and signals and to make conclusions “pop out”
    • Familiarity and experience with dimensionality reduction, feature extraction/determination, high dimensionality analysis, statistical and other types of model robustness analysis techniques
    • Python and/or Linux command line skills
    • Experience identifying data sources and assessing/mitigating data quality issues
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Ability to give both technical and sales presentations
    • 3+ years working in quantitative roles
    • BA or BS: Generally more weight is given to those who demonstrate rigorous scientific training and experience and with advanced degrees (or equivalent) in fields such as Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, and other quantitative sciences

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
    • PHD, MS, MBA or other related Master’s Degree
    • Previous Solution Architect role at an analytical software or services company
    • Experience in Executive communication sessions
    • Specialized areas of data science such as natural language processing, anomaly detection, model parallelization, time series analysis, statistical matching techniques (e.g., propensity score), model ensembling, to name just a few…
    • Experience solving hard problems across topical domains
    • Professional consulting experience
    • Communicating past experiences in sales and speaking opportunities
    • A deep understanding of the scientific method, modeling by experimental design as well modeling of observational studies, including the probability and statistics that enables you to understand model appropriateness, limitations, etc

The Solution Architect will work from a virtual (home) office with considerable time required onsite with customer(s). 20%+ travel is required, dependent on account responsibilities/activities and location from home office.
