Summary Description:

The Technical Architect of Teradata India R&D Center will provide thought leadership, influence, and hands-on engagement in order to develop, direct and implement the innovation agenda for Teradata India R&D center, resulting in best in class solutions that meet Teradata Global R&D and customers’ needs. The successful leader will convert those strategic needs into viable, high quality solutions that meet cost and timing targets. In this role the Architect will be a key contributor to the full spectrum of the technology and engineering continuum within Teradata India R&D center, from mentoring engineering talent, developing intellectual property, leading technology innovation, and help create development process to drive Teradata Global market leadership. The Architect will be the driving force for engineering excellence to achieve both short and long term business objectives and technical innovation aspirations within India R&D Center. This unique role is responsible for developing solutions in an overall system, which includes Teradata Database, Aster, Hadoop, Teradata’s UDA Platform, as well as Teradata’s Client products.

 Key Areas of Responsibility: 

• In the role of Architect this person needs to constantly help push the envelope both in terms of adding advanced features and performance aspects of our products.
• This person in this role will need to conceptualize and architect next generation features and also drive roadmap in certain areas of the product.
• Will need to set and deliver on expectations with his peers in the U.S.
• In this role, this person will be a prominent architect of the company and may need to present at company’s conferences and tradeshows and also interface with customers if need arises.

 

Work Environment:

This position is located at the Teradata India R&D center location in Hyderabad; a highly technical environment with highly skilled technical associates.   

 

Skills & Attributes:

 

• Need to possess strong technical experience. Must have knowledge of software development methodologies, direct Agile development experience.
• Deep understanding of database kernel including areas like Cost based Optimizer, SQL Parsing and Execution, and File Systems.
• Direct experience of World-Class scalable & parallel systems, preferably with MPP architectures. Recommended to have experience in highly available system architectures.
• Need to possess strong communication & leadership skills.
• The person’s past experience should demonstrate strong technical capabilities and strategic thinking.
• At a minimum need to have 15 years of experience in the software industry, with more than seven years in the relational databases with a proven track record. Additionally a minimum of two years to have played the role of an Architect and delivered release defining features for a major Commercial database product or a one of the popular open source databases.
• It is recommended to have experience in the Datawarehousing and Analytics areas

 

Basic Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science.
• Minimum of 15 years engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of C/C++, build/version control tools
• U.S. industry experience, specifically the RDBMS experience in a US based company is a plus
