Summary Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to perform functional and performance testing of Cloud Native Database features. The engineer will work closely with feature architects, developers, product owners, and managers to understand feature specifications early in the development lifecycle and create comprehensive test plans and test cases. This position also involves test automation, defect isolation, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and supporting developers in resolving issues. The ideal candidate should have good programming, strong RDBMS/SQL/Automation/Testing skills, along with the ability to develop functional or performance test plans.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field
• Minimum 3+ years of software development and/or software testing experience

Job Requirements:

• Ability to understand product features and functionality from design specification documents
• Experience in creating test plans and develop test cases
• Strong experience in test automation, debugging, and issue isolation
• Hands-on working experience in Unix/Linux environments
• Strong knowledge of RDBMS and SQL
• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining test frameworks
• Experience working in Agile software development environments with exposure to Test-Driven Development
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools
• Proficient in utilizing AI tools to improve testing efficiency and quality

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Primarily responsible for functional and performance testing of cloud-native database features
• Quickly understand complex features from functional and technical perspectives
• Develop test specification documents based on functional and performance requirements
• Design, automate, and execute test cases in accordance with approved test plans
• Adapt effectively to evolving feature requirements in an agile development environment
• Support pre and post merge activities as part of end-to-end testing

• Work closely with product owners and feature team members, and reports to Engineering Manager.

Key Competencies/Skills:

• Strong scripting skills in Python and/or Shell
• Strong working experience in SQL development
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, debugging, and root-cause analysis
• Good exposure in Linux/Unix environments and cloud infrastructure
• Good programming skills in any language with a good understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms
• Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and apply new technologies
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Skilled in leveraging AI and data analytics tools
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
