What You'll Do

This role supports defined territory of public sector accounts and the Senior Account Executive is responsible for driving Teradata’s growth by expanding and strengthening relationships across government and public service organizations. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities, building pipeline, and executing complex sales cycles in partnership with internal stakeholders.

To be successful, this person will be able to quickly establish strong relationships and build alignment across diverse stakeholders in a dynamic and highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen, public sector familiarity, and the ability to engage in both business and technical conversations with customers. They will also understand the public sector buying journey—including procurement cycles and compliance requirements—and collaborate effectively within a matrixed team to progress opportunities and close business. Beyond individual account ownership, this person will play an active role in shaping the US public sector go-to-market approach—sharing market insights, contributing to team strategy, and helping elevate the capabilities of the broader public sector team. This is a role for someone who leads from the field and makes the people around them better.

This person is a self-starter with a growth mindset, willing to think creatively to help solve clients’ complex, mission-driven challenges.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Drive alignment with clients across a portfolio of accounts around Teradata’s modern cloud and AI-driven data platform, supporting mission and operational objectives.
  • Develop and execute account plans across multiple accounts to drive territory growth and expand public sector engagement.
  • Build and expand relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, IT, procurement, and executive sponsors.
  • Manage pipeline development, opportunity progression, and forecasting across a portfolio to deliver against revenue targets.
  • Demonstrate understanding of customer mission priorities, data environments, regulatory requirements, and competitive landscape.
  • Effectively communicate the value of Teradata solutions and articulate ROI in the context of public sector outcomes (efficiency, citizen services, compliance, etc.).
  • Partner with internal teams and specialists to navigate procurement processes and advance opportunities through complex sales cycles.
  • Contribute to overall territory strategy and collaborate closely with senior account leaders and extended teams.

Who You'll Work With

You will collaborate proactively across Teradata’s Go-To-Market and partner ecosystem to accelerate sales opportunities, including Systems Integrators (SI), Cloud Service Providers (CSP), and Independent Software Vendors (ISV), many of whom are key partners in public sector engagements.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Master’s Degree (optional/preferred).
  • Proven track record of driving new business and expanding within public sector or regulated industry accounts.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience building relationships with mid-to-senior level stakeholders (Director / Sr. Director / VP / Government leadership).

What You'll Bring

  • Understanding of AI, data, and analytics trends and their application in public sector environments.
  • Experience working with government, education, or other public sector organizations (federal, state, or local).
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement processes, compliance, and contracting vehicles.
  • Experience with analytics platforms or data-related technologies.
  • Familiarity with sales methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Ability to create and deliver compelling presentations to diverse stakeholder groups.

This position is working in a virtual office environment, including home office & customer site. A combination of independent work and team collaboration will be required. Travel up to 50% is also expected.
