What You’ll Do

The Global Travel Sourcing and Operations Manager will oversee the end-to-end travel management for Teradata, a program spanning thousands of travelers across multiple continents with significant annual spend. This role requires extensive knowledge and understanding of global travel management, with a focus on operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, and strategic sourcing. The successful candidate will drive the evolution of Teradata’s travel program from a traditional support model to a technology-driven, data-informed function that delivers measurable value. Occasional travel required, up to 15% annually (supplier meetings, quarterly business reviews, internal events)

Travel Program Management and Strategy

  • Manage KPIs and processes to monitor the success of the travel program from an operational standpoint.
  • Generate relevant reports to inform decisions with stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite.
  • Drive travel operations and stakeholder groups to deliver a competitive, simple, and engaging travel program.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for the travel category, providing thought leadership on market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, suppliers, and technical innovations.
  • Influence policy thinking, providing responses to audit reports and category costs as appropriate.
  • Support Director with design, implementation, and management of the global travel strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Support Director with development and enforcement of travel policies, processes, and guidelines to ensure consistency, compliance, and cost control across all markets.
  • Drive the shift from a traditional operational support model to a technology-driven model, optimizing the Navan travel management platform for end-to-end travel management.
  • Partner with finance, HR, legal, security, and department heads to align travel needs with broader organizational priorities.
  • Provide quarterly updates to key stakeholders and regions, with recommendations for reducing cost, improving traveler experience, and advancing sustainable travel options.

 

Supplier and TMC Management

  • Manage global TMC relationships, including SLAs, KPIs, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Negotiate preferred rates and monitor performance of airlines, hotel chains, and car rental providers.
  • Support and maintain working relationships with vendors including airlines, hotels, rental cars, ground transportation, travel management companies, travel booking tools, card vendors, and emerging travel technologies.
  • Leverage supplier expertise and available industry tools and solutions to develop leading-edge deliverables and best practices.
  • Structure and negotiate supplier agreements to optimize programs and maximize cost savings for Teradata.
  • Conduct and evaluate RFPs (Requests for Proposals).
  • Manage supplier performance to meet and/or exceed Teradata’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Brief key stakeholders monthly and quarterly, and facilitate quarterly business reviews with suppliers.
  • Act as a liaison between travel management, travelers, and external partners.

 

Operational Travel Management

  • Answer general travel questions and develop solutions to traveler issues.
  • Ensure training and reference materials are current and accessible to all travelers, administrators, and delegates.
  • Continuously update travel information on Teradata’s intranet and travel intranet sites.
  • Address issues and tasks, including any necessary escalations through partnership with the Travel Provider.
  • Manage Teradata’s list of VIP travelers and work closely with their Executive Assistants to ensure VIP satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with internal and supplier resources to ensure integrations with HR feeds, SSO, Duty of Care, and visa/immigration support tools.
  • Monitor and analyze platform usage within Navan, identify optimization opportunities, and implement changes to enhance efficiency, cost savings, and user experience.
  • Proactively address traveler pain points and system inefficiencies by collaborating with technology providers for troubleshooting and feature enhancements.
  • Assist and coordinate during crisis events impacting Teradata’s travelers.
  • Optimize the end-to-end traveler journey, from booking to expense reporting, with a focus on user experience, sustainability, and duty of care.
  • Develop and lead a Travel Super User Group, with regular forums to share updates and gather feedback.
  • Conduct an annual Travel survey to proactively identify areas for improvement.

Reporting, Analytics, and Communications

  • Analyze travel data to identify savings opportunities, traveler behavior trends, and policy compliance.
  • Utilize real-time analytics and dashboards within Navan to deliver ongoing strategic insights to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Work with Director to create regular dashboards and executive summaries to share insights and progress.
  • Ensure business units have direct access to their travel spend data.
  • Research, analyze, and report on travel work streams across Teradata.
  • Coordinate and support communications, progress updates, and best practices in executing travel management activities.
  • Facilitate communication between vendors, partners, and Teradata.

Payment Program, Savings, and Compliance

  • Deliver business unit specifics around compliance areas, supported by expense reporting.
  • Analyze card reporting to support preferred supplier programs purchased or booked outside of company-provided tools.
  • Support HR off-boarding processes with employee separations.
  • Review travel policy guidelines to assess travelers’ compliance across all spend categories.
  • Provide change management strategies to drive travel program improvements and savings across all regions and countries.
  • Maintain procedures designed to provide awareness of travel policy guidelines and overall program knowledge.
  • Manage savings initiatives to drive preferred traveler booking behaviors.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, tax, compliance, and business partners to align travel offerings with policy and adopt changes required by statutory or regulatory updates in key markets.
  • Oversee traveler safety and incident response protocols in collaboration with security teams.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Travel Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in travel management, sourcing, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of travel industry dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and supplier management.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in travel management platforms and booking tools (e.g., Navan, Concur, Egencia, or equivalent).
  • Experience with corporate expense management platforms (e.g., Concur Expense, Workday Expenses, Coupa, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage global programs across multiple time zones and regions.

What You’ll Bring

  •  Experience with the Navan travel management platform.
  • Experience with remote-first or distributed workforces.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and carbon reporting in business travel.
  • Knowledge of emerging travel technology solutions, including NDC content and integrated HRIS.
  • CTE (Certified Travel Executive) or GTP (Global Travel Professional) certification.
  • Experience managing EMEA and/or APAC regional travel programs.

Pay Rate: $101,600.00 - $127,000.00 - $152,500.00 Annually

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on geographic location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and candidate experience. Sales roles will be eligible for commission payments tied to quota achievement. All other permanent roles will be eligible for one of our annual incentive plans, which are based on company financial attainment and individual performance.
