What You'll Do

In this role, you will provide support to the law team across the full spectrum of intellectual property operations, including patent portfolio development and management, trademark portfolio oversight, and invention disclosure program administration. Your responsibilities will include managing IP docketing systems, coordinating with in-house and outside patent and trademark counsel, tracking deadlines and budgets, administering the invention disclosure platform and process, and supporting inventors and business teams across the organization. You will also play a key role in streamlining and enhancing our IP processes, including through automation and AI solutions. As a trusted member of the IP team, you will be heavily relied on by in-house counsel and cross-functional stakeholders, making your contributions vital to our success. Who You'll Work With

You will collaborate closely with the IP law team, other in-house counsel, and our law operations team, as well as key stakeholders across Teradata's product, technology, marketing, finance, IT, and people organizations. The IP function is responsible for proactively managing and growing Teradata's global patent and trademark portfolios, coordinating outside counsel to ensure strategic alignment and cost efficiency, and administering innovation programs that recognize and advance inventor contributions. In this role, you will report directly to a Senior IP Counsel.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

  • 5+ years of IP paralegal experience in a corporate legal department or law firm.
  • Bachelor's degree or ABA-approved paralegal certificate.
  • Hands-on experience managing patent and trademark workflows.
  • Familiarity with Computer Packages Inc. (CPI) systems or comparable IP management platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills, including Excel proficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with AI technology and tools.

What You'll Bring

  • Prior experience working in the IP law team of a large corporation or a highly regarded law firm that manages corporate patent and trademark portfolios
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI and automation tools in legal or IP workflows.
  • Proficiency managing U.S. and international patent and trademark dockets, including prosecution deadlines, maintenance fees, and renewals.
  • Experience administering invention disclosure programs and coordinating inventor recognition initiatives.
  • Ability to extract and synthesize data from IP management systems to support portfolio strategy and reporting.
  • Project experience translatable to IP management system implementation in year one
  • Experience interacting with outside trademark counsel on substantive matters and coordinating billing, invoice review, and cost tracking.
  • Familiarity with patent analytics tools and technology-sector IP.
  • Experience preparing training materials or process documentation for cross-functional audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work with strong follow-up and follow-through.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional time management and knowledge management skills.
