Our Company

At Teradata, we believe that people thrive when empowered with better information. That’s why we built the most complete cloud analytics and data platform for AI. By delivering harmonized data, trusted AI, and faster innovation, we uplift and empower our customers—and our customers’ customers—to make better, more confident decisions. The world’s top companies across every major industry trust Teradata to improve business performance, enrich customer experiences, and fully integrate data across the enterprise.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a Senior Platform Systems Engineer to help architect and evolve next-generation AI and database infrastructure platforms used in enterprise and hyperscale datacenter environments.

This role combines system-level electrical engineering, power and thermal architecture, platform integration, and infrastructure engineering. You will work across compute, storage, networking, firmware, manufacturing, and datacenter power domains to ensure our platforms are scalable, resilient, manufacturable, and globally deployable.

While power and thermal design experience are important aspects of this role, this is fundamentally a broad systems engineering position focused on end-to-end platform ownership rather than narrow component-level design.

You will help drive technical decisions spanning:

  • Datacenter power architecture
  • Thermal and cooling strategies
  • High-density AI/GPU infrastructure
  • Manufacturing and factory integration
  • Platform validation and debugging
  • System automation and diagnostics
  • Cross-functional platform design

This is a highly visible technical leadership role requiring strong engineering judgment, cross-functional influence, and the ability to operate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead system-level design, integration, and validation of compute, storage, networking, power, and thermal infrastructure features across Teradata platforms
  • Define and validate platform-level power architecture, redundancy strategies, and thermal requirements for enterprise and AI-optimized systems
  • Partner with product, hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams to prototype and productionize new platform capabilities
  • Lead complex root-cause analysis spanning hardware, firmware, operating systems, networking, storage, power, and thermal domains
  • Drive platform manufacturability and factory readiness, including production validation, engineering changes, and deployment standards
  • Develop and maintain validation, characterization, and automation tools using Bash, Python, or C-based utilities
  • Influence platform architecture through technical insight, industry awareness, and emerging infrastructure technologies
  • Support qualification and lifecycle management of electrical and electromechanical components including power supplies, PDUs, breakers, cabling, cooling systems, and infrastructure devices
  • Define and validate firmware configurations, deployment settings, and manufacturing handoff requirements for scalable production
  • Partner with global vendors, manufacturing partners, and field organizations to resolve integration and deployment issues
  • Support regulatory, EMC, and safety compliance activities for enterprise datacenter deployments
  • Contribute to next-generation high-density AI and GPU infrastructure designs, including advanced air and liquid-cooled systems

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong systems engineering background spanning server, storage, networking, or infrastructure platforms
  • Experience with datacenter power systems, redundancy models, and thermal design considerations
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems and command-line environments
  • Experience with platform debugging and performance analysis tools such as fioiostat, perf, sariperfsysbench, or similar utilities
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming using Python, Bash, and/or C
  • Experience working with firmware, BIOS, BMC/iDRAC, or large-scale system configuration
  • Familiarity with high-speed networking technologies including Ethernet or InfiniBand fabrics
  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies including NVMe, RAID, distributed storage, replication, or erasure coding concepts
  • Understanding of rack-level infrastructure including PDUs, cabling, grounding, and power distribution concepts
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, system integration, or factory deployment activities
  • Familiarity with regulatory and EMC considerations in enterprise hardware deployments
  • Ability to operate beyond a single technical specialty into broader system-level ownership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with global three-phase datacenter power distribution architectures, including regional voltage/frequency standards, grounding methodologies, breaker coordination, and enterprise redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N)
  • Experience with AI, GPU, or high-density compute infrastructure
  • Experience with thermal characterization and cooling validation
  • Experience with liquid cooling technologies
  • Familiarity with datacenter facility interfaces and regional power standards
  • Experience working with global ODM/OEM vendors and manufacturing partners

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related technical fields
  • Strong expertise in one or more domains such as:
  • Power and thermal systems
  • Linux systems
  • Server architecture
  • Storage technologies
  • High-speed networking
  • Infrastructure validation
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and cross-functional engineering ownership

What you will bring

  • Strong technical leadership and systems thinking
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive technical decisions across organizations
  • Confidence leading high-severity troubleshooting and root-cause analysis efforts
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, and business teams
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • Intellectual curiosity and continuous learning mindset
  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments with evolving technical priorities
  • Strong ownership mentality and bias toward execution
