Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager, AI Engineering, to lead and grow a high-impact AI engineering team within Teradata’s analytics and AI organization. This role is responsible for delivering production-grade AI systems, including ML/LLM-powered services, analytics platforms, and AI infrastructure that operate at enterprise scale.

This is a people-first technical leadership role: you will manage senior engineers, drive execution, and partner closely with Product, Testing, Platform, and Operations teams to turn AI innovation into customer-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

People & Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of AI engineers and engineering managers.
• Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, quality, delivery, and collaboration.
• Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
• Provide clear technical and execution guidance while empowering teams to make decisions.

Technical & Execution Leadership

• Own the design and delivery of scalable AI/ML systems, including:
• LLM-based applications (e.g., RAG, agentic workflows, summarization, embeddings)
• Machine learning pipelines (training, inference, monitoring)
• Analytics and data processing services
• Ensure systems meet enterprise standards for performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency
• Guide architectural decisions across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform evolution

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Product Management to translate business requirements into technical execution plans.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Platform, Cloud, and DevOps teams.
• Communicate technical strategy, risks, and progress clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
• Drive alignment across multiple teams and initiatives.

Strategy & Innovation

• Help define Teradata’s AI engineering roadmap and best practices.
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and tools in the AI/ML ecosystem.
• Ensure Teradata’s AI capabilities remain competitive, scalable, and enterprise-ready.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience in software engineering, with significant focus on AI/ML systems.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience, including managing senior engineers or managers.
• Strong background in building and operating production AI/ML systems.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI platforms or analytics products for enterprise customers.
• Experience with vector databases, search, or in-database analytics.
• Background working in data, analytics, or database-related products.
• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
