Employee Relations Manager, EMEA
We are seeking an Employee Relations People Partner to drive and promote a strong culture of positive employee relations at Teradata. Reporting to the Global ER & EMEA People Partner Leader, this experienced professional will collaborate closely with People Org Partners and Centers of Excellence (COE), Legal, and business stakeholders to ensure excellence in day-to-day ER and compliance. This hands-on role involves providing guidance to managers and employees on People and ER issues within the EMEA region, fostering a positive and ethical workplace environment.
Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Support the evolution of the ER function including developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), metrics and best practices for the function
- Support the day-to-day operations of various ER programs, compliance and initiatives:
- Investigate highly sensitive ER issues, conduct interviews, collect evidence, and prepare comprehensive reports with objective recommendations based on findings
- Collaborate with decision-makers, People Org Partners, and Legal on critical elements of compliance and investigations to determine best mitigating outcomes
- Promote awareness among managers and employees about ethics and compliance related to People policies to foster culture of positive ER
- Facilitate conflict resolution between employees and managers by understanding perspectives and guiding towards solutions
- Provide consultation on complex Performance Management issues, including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), exit strategies, and involuntary separations
- Consult and mentor managers and in-Region People Partner team on HR compliance policies and regulatory issues
- Represent the company at Works Councils, mediations, and in employment-related complaints with state and federal agencies
- Manage the execution of reductions in force notifications and separation agreements
- Maintain the ER case management system (ServiceNow)
- Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and employment law
- Build global knowledge and capability for managing ER issues
Policies/Guidelines & Compliance
- Audit and refine existing processes to ensure compliance with policies, laws, and company initiatives
- Support the development of global and regional policies and employee law requirements
- Partner with Legal to ensure policies and practices comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Continuously improve regional guidelines and maintain a compliance repository for easy access
Projects
- Participate in People Org related projects and programs relating to compliance, employee relations, and team member engagement
Requirements/Experience
- 6+ years of HR, Legal or ER experience in a large, international, fast-paced organization
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Legal, Business or other related discipline
- Experience working with a global company with experience/exposure to relevant in-region employment laws/regulations
- Proven knowledge and experience with employee relations/compliance within the EMEA region
- Proven knowledge and experience with Works Councils in countries like France (required), Germany, Austria and/or Spain (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate verbally and in writing effectively within the team and at all levels of the organization
- Experience in building trusting relationships
- Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
- Proven experience conducting internal ER investigations at all levels
- Ability to maintain neutrality and calm demeanor in tense/conflict-ridden situations
- Experience providing coaching to employees & managers, offering feedback and advice on issues in a proactive and compassionate manner
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, especially in complex and nuanced situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Strong execution skills
- Hands-on manner
- Language skills: English and French fluent in verbal and writing, any other language like German and/or Spanish would be an add-on
