Your Opportunity

The Database Query Optimization group at Teradata Labs has an opening for Software Engineer for testing. In this role, you are expected to contribute to testing activities for new enhancements and advanced features for the Teradata Vantage Core Platform.

Responsibilities / Interesting Work Youll Do

  • Responsible for working with Product Owner and/or feature architects and developer to come-up good test cases
  • Responsible for the quality assurance of the software/feature deliverables by the team
  • Candidate would be responsible to automate functional and performance testing and setup CI/CD pipelines and contribute to the delivery and continuous support of robust, resilient, and quality database products
  • Collaborates with team to develop new testing methodologies to improve Optimizer quality and robustness and analyze the effectiveness of the features.
  • Develop test cases for performance characterization of features for very large-scale database software running in a highly parallel and distributed environment
  • Work with Developers and Project Lead to identify critical performance areas and high-risk areas of the Teradata Query Optimizer performance.
  • Participate in Closed Loop Corrective Action analysis to improve Optimizer quality, robustness, and predictability.
  • Works with a team of developers and architects and helps in testing and validating early proposals and prototypes

Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science(B.Tech) or related discipline, with at least three years of related research or industry, or
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science(M.Tech/MCA) or related discipline, with at least one years of related research or industry experience

Ideally, you will also have the following

  • Good knowledge and experience using SQL language
  • Knowledge of Teradata RDBMS a plus
  • Ability to understand feature specifications and design high quality test cases to exploit performance and functionality
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in python, shell script or C/C++ are desirable
  • Understanding of OS fundamentals and data structures would be good
  • Good understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) / Public Cloud technologies is desirable
  • Passionate, self-motivated, risk taker, pro-active, initiative taker, good communicator (written & verbal), creative, and team-oriented
  • Experience using Agile software development methods and tools
