Our Team

This position is for a Software Engineer Intern in the SQL-Engine Services team within the Vantage Core - Platform Software organization.  The SQLES Team is comprised of multiple scrum level teams working towards the same goal: to provide comprehensive, reliable, and scalable solutions for the Teradata SQL Engine (i.e. Teradata Database) for our supported public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).  This includes:

SQLE image creation and validation for our supported public cloud platforms.
Common/public SQLE Microservice for provisioning and runtime operations related to SQLE.
In-site SQLE services for cloud runtime operations (e.g. scaling, node failure recovery, configuration).
On-node SQLE services and tools for cloud runtime operations.

Your Opportunity

This position is for a Software Engineer Intern in the SQL-Engine Services team within the Vantage Core – Platform Software organization. The position will work directly with their mentor on the end-to-end delivery of one or more features within the scope of SQLE Services, including scoping/design, implementation, and testing. 

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and creative current undergrad or graduate student who is eager to learn cloud technologies and can contribute to the success of Teradata.  They will also have class work or independent experience with Python, RESTful services, public cloud infrastructure and services (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), computer science fundamentals (e.g. data structures, algorithms), Git, and agile methodologies.

Job Functions: 

Member of an agile development team responsible for Teradata SQL-Engine Services.
Work closely with software engineering mentors to deliver one or more features within the scope of SQLE Services.

Qualifications: 

Excellent troubleshooting, listening, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn. 
Experience with Python.
Experience with public and/or private cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, VMWare ESXi, etc.
Experience in RESTful services development.
Knowledge of security best practices for RESTful services.
Comfortable working on a Linux system.
Experience with Git.
Experience with DevOps automation tools and libraries.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements

Must be enrolled in BS/MS/PhD degree program. With graduation dates between August 2023-June 2025.
