External Description:

The Associate Proposal Manager is a key member of Teradata’s Go to Market Sales Organization within Teradata’s newly formed Proposal Development Center. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Associate Proposal Manager is a motivated self-starter with the drive to immediately learn to be a valuable team contributor. Under the guidance of the Senior Manager, the Associate Proposal Manager is responsible for gathering information from technical experts or our existing content library, drafting a proposal response, obtaining approvals, and submitting the proposals. The Associate Proposal Manager is also expected to work with the Sales Team on the development and completion of proactive proposals and templates.  The Associate Proposal Manager builds knowledge of Teradata processes, solutions, products, services, and customers; solves a range of straightforward problems; analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures; and receives a moderate level of guidance and direction to complete their tasks.

What You Will Be Doing….

  • Work to gain knowledge of Teradata’s solutions, customer, and prospect landscape
  • Write, revise, and edit RFP submissions in a clear, concise manner maintaining continuity of style and content
  • Work with the Senior Manager to create compliance checklist and establish timelines
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities, task ownership, and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; monitor and communicate proposal status; coordinate requirements with contributors; contribute proposal status information at review meetings
  • Ensure proposal is compliant and completed according to the RFP instructions
  • Execute the development of fully compliant, compelling, and winning proposal templates to be used by the Sales Team
  • Manage and produce deliverables ensuring highest quality and timeliness
  • Partner with the design team to develop graphics, tables, and charts
  • Format, review and edit all deliverables, ensuring they are market ready
  • Make certain that external materials are brand compliant and approved
  • Localize content material and templates to align with region-specific messaging and themes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from contributing functions (Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Consulting, IT, Legal and Deal Desk) to ensure cross-departmental strategy and coordination
  • Advocate and actively follow written procedures, policies, protocols, and best practices, including standard file management and archiving procedures
  • Achieve quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases
  • Improve proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and updating boilerplate with latest solutions and responses
  • Acquire and retain broad knowledge and understanding of regional laws and regulations pertaining to bid and contract management processes to mitigate risk to company
  • Develop a practical knowledge equally of Teradata’s offerings including Hardware, Software, and Services while continuously striving to understand and relate Teradata’s value-add proposition to all proposal submittals
  • Support process improvement and special projects as needed

Essential Functions

  • With guidance from the Senior Manager and other team mentors, deliver compliant, professionally produced proposals within agreed upon timeframes
  • Coordinate and edit proposal input from a variety of sources
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Capable of understanding Teradata analytic technology, to find the customer value and competitive position that drives price in opportunities for customer use of Teradata products and services
  • Strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills - able to work with teams of varying sizes, technical abilities, and levels of authority
  • Ability to work closely with sales and sales management, and draw on other, often remote company resources
  • The ability to professionally discuss business issues with management and offer advice and alternatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years proposal management, consulting, or related work experience
  • Knowledge of proposal life cycle management
  • Experience with Proposal Management Software – RFPIO a plus
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other database applications
  • Good writing and editing skills gained through formal education, certification, or work experience
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and credible manner
  • Willingly accepts feedback and coaching
  • Contributes to a positive team culture
  • Self-directed individual

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sales oriented, business savvy individual with business value writing expertise
  • Experience in Finance, Marketing, Services, or Sales-support function a plus
  • Experience in a SaaS related, or B2B Software based industry preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus

We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Proposal Manager with experience in capture management, proposal management, writing, , and overall delivery of proposals and proposal templates. You will create templates and quick-use structures for sales to use in their daily activities. You will react quickly to market and strategic changes, while ensuring deadlines are met. The Associate Proposal Manager is responsible for providing support to the Sales organizations in the development of customized client deliverables (i.e., proposals, quotes, requests for information, presentations, etc.). The Associate Proposal Manager will be responsible for bringing together the efforts of Sales, Operations, Services Practices, and various other resources to ensure the timely coordination and creation of client documentation (creative, legal, and business content) while meeting client driven deadlines.
