Summary

Influencing across all teams and direct partnership with the SVP of Engineering, this position is responsible for enabling capital “A” Agile success across Teradata’s entire Engineering organization.  This requires understanding, defining, and implementing the most effective process and tooling that enables our amazing technical talent to rapidly bring the best solutions to market. 

Partnering across Engineering, and the larger Product Operations teams, this leader will understand all aspects of our product delivery - from Concept through Commercialization – and will humbly seek to increase team effectiveness by streamlining the efforts and requirements necessary for the successful iteration and launch of our various offerings. This position will work across the organization, directly and indirectly influencing all teams, to ensure we deliver efficiently and effectively and operate as an agile data-driven organization, all while staying focused in individual developer happiness and success.  

Key Responsibilities   

  • Ensure the overall Engineering delivery process is developer-centric but has just enough process to control, manage and predict delivery
  • Restart and improve the effectiveness of previously stalled Agile transformation
  • Own, define, and document Engineering specific portion of the product delivery process, creating a consistent process framework that accounts for variation across engineering teams
  • Lead, grow, and support a dedicated team (~8) of Agile Coaches, Analysts, and Tooling experts
  • Ensure team structures, delivery roles, and role expectations are both understood and implemented across the engineering organization
  • Move organization to a standard rolling roadmap, with near-term deliverables and longer-term directions, ensuring strategic deliverables are always known and understood
  • Ensure tight alignment of Engineering specific processes with the broader overall Product release cycle
  • Ensure clear definition of roles and responsibilities are defined, understood, and generally agreed upon across the larger Product organization
  • Ensure all Engineering is effectively trained, with the least amount of impact possible, through effective and trusted agile coaching
  • Support efforts to ensure overall Product delivery tooling is optimized and effective for engineering teams

Requirements

  • Possess strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks. Experience with six sigma, or other lean processes is beneficial
  • Experience affecting change through influence, in enterprise organizations
  •  Proven experience leading in an engineering organization. SaaS-specific experience beneficial
  • Demonstrated natural bias for action that is controlled and validated through constant iteration
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a positive change agent, working with cross-functional business stakeholders to streamline processes to improve our flow of products throughout the organization, with an emphasis on delivering value for customers faster
  • Curious about the Teradata offerings, including the challenges of highly complex, massively parallel processing systems
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels of the organization and across multiple disciplines- possessing high emotional intelligence, understanding what is important to each audience, and anticipating challenges
  • Naturally, be highly motivated- ready to participate in a team environment and contribute to the success of Teradata
  • Would prefer a Master’s Degree, or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in a complex global organization, and 5+ years of experience directing, leading or managing major change programs or initiatives
