Job Summary:

 

We are looking for a Sr. Security Architect at Teradata to join a team of information security professionals, collaborate with partners in Cloud Operations, Development, Engineering, Product, IT, and Legal to ensure security controls are integrated into the SDLC process and project owners are provided clear guidance on security standards. This position requires deep technical expertise and strong business capabilities in technology and security.

This position may require occasional travel.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

 

• Be a growth-oriented individual contributor working within the security architecture function with a balanced set of incubation, design, data informed decision making, partner engagement, and execution skills.

• Develop security architecture roadmaps and reference architectures including design principles, best practices, and standards.

• Develop reference security architecture for cloud and container-based applications, including standards and frameworks that are aligned with the overall business strategy.

• Design secure cloud-native applications, platforms, core services and security controls across multiple public and private cloud environments including Azure, AWS, and GCP; drive implementation efforts in a highly matrixed environment.

• Ensure products and services to customers are developed in accordance with the defined security design principles and have the appropriate security controls.

• Serve as an internal senior trusted advisor providing security consulting services across multiple technical domains to project teams and other various business stakeholders to provide advice on security and assist with compensating control alternatives where security requirements cannot be met.

• Collaborate with technology architecture teams by reviewing proposed architectures and providing security requirements.

• Engage with cross-functional leaders and teams to establish strategic goals for improving the company’s security architecture and overall risk posture.

• Engage with Development, Engineering, Product, Legal and other leaders to ensure security considerations underpin decisions about new technology, systems, network, and related programs / projects.

• Provide insights on multiple alternatives to solve challenges and explain trade-offs and risks

• Promote and foster collaboration and standardization across multiple internal federated technology groups based on common technology interests and priorities.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to development and project teams across multiple security domains.

• Maintain knowledge of emerging information security trends and threats to ensure systems and technologies adapt and apply best practices on an ongoing basis.

 

Qualifications:

 

• 7+ years of deep technical expertise across multiple technical domains including application development, cloud computing, security, identity and access management and infrastructure

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university

• Industry certifications such as CISSP and either CCSP or CCSK, or equivalent industry experience; Other certifications of importance: MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, AWS Certified Solutions Architect

• Experience in both designing and securing solutions in a complex and regulated enterprise environment to offer solutions in an “as-a-service” model; demonstrated ability to not only define security requirements but help teams implement them through collaborative architecture and engineering

• Demonstrated ability to design creative alternatives to work around gaps in vendor offerings to meet technical and security requirements

• Expert-level understanding of cloud computing architecture, technical design and implementations, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as Service (SaaS) and containerized delivery models across multiple different cloud vendors

• Experience with modern delivery methodologies including Agile and DevSecOps; ability to work in a highly matrixed environment and influence teams through gathering consensus

• Experience with security related regulatory requirements, such as NIST, PCI, ISO 27001, HIPAA compliance
