Position:  Senior Manager, Proposal Development Center

Location:  United States, virtual

The Senior Manager is a key member of Teradata’s Go to Market Sales Organization within Teradata’s newly formed Proposal Development Center. Reporting to the Director of the Proposal Development Center, the Senior Manager will be responsible for capture management, proposal management, writing, graphic design, and delivery of proposal templates and proposals for key strategic opportunities. Additionally, the Senior Manager will be responsible for building a team of Proposal Specialists and contributors, which could include managing offshore partners and third-party consultants.

What You Will Be Doing….

  • Execute the development of fully compliant, compelling, and winning proposal templates to be used by the Sales Team
  • Independently lead the coordination and preparation of the proposal templates
  • Manage and produce deliverables ensuring highest quality and timeliness
  • Partner with the design team to develop graphics, tables and charts
  • Format, review and edit all deliverables, ensuring they are market ready
  • Make certain that external materials are brand compliant and approved
  • Localize content material and templates to align with region-specific messaging and themes
  • Maintain and contribute to the content used in templates and proposals
  • Monitor and measure proposal progress and completion status
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders from contributing functions (Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Consulting, IT, Legal and Deal Desk) to ensure cross-departmental strategy and coordination
  • Advocate and actively follow written procedures, policies, protocols, and best practices, including standard file management and archiving procedures
  • Collaborate with the product marketing and enablement teams to develop and maintain response content
  • Update content to ensure it stays current
  • Maintain content management processes based on industry best practices
  • Achieve quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases
  • Improve proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and updating boilerplate with latest solutions and responses
  • Act as a senior member of the Proposal Development Team, including being a coach, mentor, and providing ongoing guidance and direction to direct reports as the team grows
  • Hire, train, and evaluate the performance of direct reports
  • Oversee the assignment and preparation of proposals utilizing company-approved vendors and service providers
  • Support process improvement and special projects as needed

  • Thorough, detail oriented, and organized and capable of meeting deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment while managing multiple projects and completion dates
  • Self-directed individual with the experience of managing proposals from end-to-end with little supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinker who gathers and analyzes information from a variety of sources and can synthesize the data and produce well-composed work products that need little rework

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver compliant, professionally produced proposals within agreed upon timeframes
  • Coordinate and edit proposal input from a variety of sources
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Strong written English language skills
  • Capable of understanding Teradata analytic technology, to find the customer value and competitive position that drives price in opportunities for customer use of Teradata products and services
  • Strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills - able to work with teams of varying sizes, technical abilities, and levels of authority
  • Ability to work closely with sales and sales management, and draw on other, often remote company resources
  • The ability to professionally discuss business issues with management and offer advice and alternatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 10 years proposal management, consulting, or related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of proposal life cycle management
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other database applications
  • Experience in hiring and leading proposal management teams
  • Strong writing and editing skills gained through formal education, certification, or work experience
  • Proven success with managing content and the understanding and use of proposal content libraries
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to write persuasively and articulately
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and credible manner
  • Willingly accepts feedback and coaching
  • Contributes to a positive team culture
  • Self-directed individual

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sales oriented, business savvy individual with business value writing expertise
  • Experience in Finance, Marketing, Services, or Sales-support function a plus
  • Experience in a SaaS related, or other software based B2B Software based industry
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing / Analytics and competition
  • Vendor and third-party management

You will create templates and quick-use structures for sales to use in their daily activities. You will react quickly to market and strategic changes, while ensuring deadlines are met. As part of a newly formed team, you will be responsible for helping to ensure a content library is built and will play a critical role in the maintenance of the content. As the team grows, you will be a team leader, making sure team members have the tools they need for success.
