Location: Any location in EMEA where there is a Teradata presence 

 

The Global Employee Relations (ER) Manager plays an important role in driving and promoting a strong culture of positive employee relations at Teradata. The experienced professional will report to the Global ER Leader and will support the establishment and development of the Global ER function at Teradata, while collaborating with The People Org Partners, COE, Legal and business stakeholders to administer excellence in day-to-day ER and Compliance. This individual will bring their expertise in the EMEA region to ensure the successful establishment of the function to cover the needs within this region. This role is a global hands-on role and will be responsible for supporting managers and employees on People and ER issues initially focused within the EMEA region, ensuring a positive and ethical workplace.

 

Responsibilities

 

Employee Relations - Investigations related to policy, ethics and compliance violations or poor performance; conflict resolution; execution of reduction in force, separation agreements; manager and employee coaching, etc.

 

  • Support the development and establishment of the ER function including creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), metrics and best practices for the function
  • Drive innovation to help solve business and team member problems and ensuring accountability to both results and behaviors
  • Support the day-to-day operations of various ER programs, compliance and initiatives:
    • Investigate highly sensitive ER issues, and make objective recommendations based on findings. This includes conducting investigative interviews resulting from any ER issues/complaints, and collecting and maintaining evidence and interview notes, preparing an investigation report, performance improvement plan and/or corrective action
    • Collaborate with decision makers, The People Org Partners and Legal on critical elements of compliance and investigations to determine best mitigating outcomes
    • Increase awareness among manager and employees of ethics and compliance related to People policies, processes, and best practices to address resolution of ER related issues and drive a culture of positive ER
    • Work with employees and their managers to understand perspectives and to guide toward resolution of conflict or issues
    • Consult on difficult or complex Performance Management issues, including PIPs, exit strategies and involuntary separations
    • Consult and mentor managers and in-region People Partners on a variety of People Compliance policies and related regulatory compliance issues
    • Facilitate the resolution of escalated Leave of Absence employment decisions and requests for workplace accommodations by facilitating and influencing discussions with manager, employee, Legal and Benefits
    • Represent Teradata at Works Councils, employee conciliatory mediations, and representatives on employment related complaints filed with state and federal agencies
    • Manage execution of reductions in force notifications and separation agreements
  • Audit existing processes; augment, streamline and refine as required by policies, laws, and company initiatives
  • Maintain ER case management system
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and employment law
  • Build global knowledge and capability for managing ER issues globally

 

Onboarding/ Exit

  • Successful execution of an engaging Day 1 onboarding experience for new employees; provide continuous improvement feedback on the program design and content that enhances the new employee experience
  • Analyze feedback from employee exit interviews, determine trends and recommend appropriate actions

 

Policies/Guidelines & Compliance

  • Supports the evolution of company global and regional policies and employee law requirements
  • Partner with Legal as needed to ensure policies and practices comply with applicable country, regional, federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Continue to refine and evolve the regional guidelines and compliance repository for easy and quick access
  • Consult with Legal on required trainings and ensure training is launched and tracked according to requirements

 

Projects

  • Participate in People Org related projects and programs relating to compliance, employee relations, and team member engagement

 

Requirements/Experience

 

  • 6+ years of HR, Legal or ER experience in a large, international, fast-paced organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Legal, Business or other related discipline
  • Experience working with a global company with experience/exposure to relevant in-region employment laws/regulations
  • Proven knowledge and experience with employee relations/compliance within the EMEA region
  • Proven knowledge and experience with Works Councils in countries like Germany (required), Austria, France (preferred) and/or Spain
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate verbally and in writing effectively within the team and at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in building trusting relationships
  • Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
  • Proven experience conducting internal ER investigations at all levels
  • Ability to maintain neutrality and calm demeanor in tense/conflict-ridden situations
  • Experience providing coaching to employees & managers, offering feedback and advice on issues in a proactive and compassionate manner
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, especially in complex and nuanced situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong execution skills
  • Hands-on manner
