EMEA Partner Sales Engineer

Position Overview

The Sales Engineer (SE) is a technologist presales person, responsible for promoting Teradata solutions to consulting and technology partners and for establishing and developing “trusted advisor” status relationships with the technical staff of partners.  A “T-shaped professional”, the SE understands Teradata technology intimately and has a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of relevant partner and competitor analytic technologies.  The SE is a hands-on professional with demonstrable expertise in data management, especially architecture, interoperability, integration, data warehousing, Business Intelligence and analytics. He/she is as comfortable giving a demonstration to support enrolment of new partners. Then the SE will play a key role to ensure the partners are enabled and able to sell Teradata technical solutions, run demo, set up trials and POC with his/her support. The SE will also be instrumental in the integration of third party-solutions on our Analytics platform.

Job Specification

Successful candidates will -

  • Assist the regional partner lead defining a relevant, actionable account strategy and plan for one or more designated partners; plan should include technical assessment and enablement plan;
  • Drive sales of Teradata software and services through and with partners mainly to prospects to gain new customers with the partners supported by the partner lead;
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to the partner(s) focusing on technical use cases from specific industries; building deep relationships especially with technical teams and leaders
  • Work with the extended account team to identify new workloads that can be brought to the platform and opportunities to leverage new features and functions to optimize existing workloads; be accountable for partner success
  • Work with ISV's integrating their solutions into Teradata products or integrating Teradata products into theirs;
  • Work with regional leaders at Teradata to support projects and develop appropriate POCs with partners;
  • Present available demo's to partners or assist partners presenting those demo's to customers; Advice partners in proofs of concept, benchmarks and performance tests;
  • Drive integration of third-party vendor solutions;
  • Share hard-won skills and experience with peers and colleagues throughout the organization.
  • Assist EMEA partner leads in technical and architectural discussions and providing them competitive, product and general information when they need it;
  • Work with partners to position Teradata products in the partner's reference business-, information-, application- and system architectures.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates must -

  • Be passionate and enthusiastic about data, analytics and Teradata;
  • Have at least 5+ years pre-sales experience / hands-on experience in architecting, designing, delivering and integrating data and software
  • Be a clear, confident and persuasive communicator, with excellent presentation skills and with the ability to structure a coherent, logical argument and the confidence to defend assumptions, projections and recommendations.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest and understanding of developments in the data and analytic technology marketplace and the trends are driving the adoption of new analytic technologies.
  • Be proficient in the use of both written and spoken business English
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Be a continuous learner and closely follow new developments and trends in data warehousing, business intelligence and analytics;
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and people skills.

 

Successful candidates will preferably -

  • Have a background in technology consulting and or pre-sales support ;
  • Have technical experience working with / for partners
  • Demonstrate relevant domain expertise in at least one industry vertical (e.g.: Retail, Finance) or one horizontal (e.g.: Supply Chain);
  • Be familiar with SQL and at least one other relevant analytic programming language;
  • Have a degree level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
