Teradata is looking for an Information Engineering Manager to lead our Content Strategy and Digital Ops team. We are looking for an individual who is open-minded and receptive to new ideas and looks for opportunities to improve our users’ experience. You will lead your team in the evolving design of our next generation technical documentation portal and the delivery of technical content for a range of products within application GUIs and through our current technical documentation portal, https://docs.teradata.com. With over 200,000 consumers per month using our technical documentation portal, your success will directly impact how our customers harness the power of Teradata, and in turn, their success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations for a team of technical writers/content developers, information architects, and program leads.
  • People management responsibilities for a technology strategist, software engineer, and data scientist who report to this position
  • Work with the Information Engineering leadership team to establish priorities aligned with Company direction, promote a high achievement and innovative environment, and manage complex programs
  • Grow a high-performing team by pursuing performance excellence through shared goals, shared leadership across the organization, collaboration, open communication, clear role expectations and group operating rules with a powerful sense of accountability and trust
  • Drive teams to embrace and adopt new tools and new ways of thinking, including focus on the overall user experience. Encourage innovation
  • Build and leverage positive cross-functional relationships to promote business agility
  • As needed, program manage strategic initiatives

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, and a technical background
  • 10 years of relevant experience, of which at least three include leading or managing people
  • Strong understanding of information engineering best practices. Experience producing content that simplifies the user experience for technical products or environments
  • Strong leadership skills, and ability to dive into the details as needed
  • Proven change management and program management experience
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills, and ability to work with all levels and functions of the organization
  • Curiosity and desire to learn about and try innovative technologies, methods, and trends. Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly
  • Ability to understand business goals, and translate them into content opportunities
  • Knowledge and experience working with advanced analytics, database technology, SQL, data warehousing, cloud or other technologies related to Teradata’s products
  • Experience working in an Agile development framework

 

Preferences

  • Experience leveraging analytics to make data driven decisions, and measuring success
  • Experience and understanding of web-based content and SEO best practices
  • Experience with JIRA, DITA, XML, HTML, markdown, CCMS, in-product help, GitHub, GitBook, open source
