The GDC Managed Services Linux Administrator role is for operations support.

Job Summary
First and second line support for all compute, storage, and networking infrastructure issues for On-prem. and public cloud hosted SLES Linux servers.
Drive OS and Application patching and upgrades as per the plan.
Set-up Alerts, reports, and dashboards for monitoring system health.
Delivery responsibilities in the areas of private cloud network administration, security administration, instantiation, provisioning, optimizing the environment, third party software support.
Plan & execute OS version upgrades, OS Migrations, Server build, Application specific configuration and Cluster setup
Key Responsibilities
Perform day to day support on the servers like administration, housekeeping, maintenance, upgrade of OS, performing Security related controls and checks.
Work on server related issues of major/minor/simple/complex in nature
Perform patching and upgrades as per the plan
Configuring Health checks and taking appropriate actions based on the alerts and checks
Backups, snapshot activity in preparation to changes being implemented
Automate the routine activities
Linux servers Performance and capacity management
Using the Change & Problem Management Tools to perform any planned/unplanned maintenance
Handling of the Day to Day House Keeping tasks by using tools & scripts
Preparation of RCA for all major/minor incidents
Identify improvement opportunities in existing processes and recommend actions
Build and deliver periodic SLA and other Reports to management
24 x 7 Environment in shift roaster-based duties
Attend calls on calls basis whenever assigned
Coordination with Server managers/other teams and other stakeholders
Technical Skills: -
Experience in Linux system administration
Strong experience in Server OS Administration
Extensive knowledge on all types of Unix / Linux Flavors
In-depth experience in implementing an end-to-end fully secure High Availability Server environment
Experience on Upgrades, Migrations, Performance Tuning and advanced Root cause analysis
Should be proficient in scripting
Should be proficient in Automation solutions
Good to have hands-on experience in one of the Automation Platforms (SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
VMware experience is of added value
Experience in handling Linux Systems Administration tasks on RedHat and SLES Linux.
Performance Monitoring and experienced in monitoring tools administration
Hands on experience on Virtualization Technologies such as KVM, VMWARE.
Hand on with implementing SSSD, LDAP, and other Identity and Authentication tools.
Experience with one or more of Shell/Perl/python scripting and other programming languages.
AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Administration experience will be plus.
Performance monitoring and reporting for the compute, storage and network resources
Good understanding for Networking and Storage concepts
Exposure to MS Windows Admin, patching and Anti-Virus admin and upgrade
Skills & Attributes
Minimum 8-10 years of IT experience.
Minimum 5-6 years of experience in Server OS Administration.
Willingness and flexibility to learn new technologies and scale up quickly and adapt to different roles as the situation demands
Ensuring that the processes are adhered to
Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
Executing tickets / requests
Monitoring and mentoring junior team members
Identifying and suggesting implementation of new technologies/products for enhancement
Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems
Knowledge of ITIL best practice on incident management, change management and problem management
Desirable Certifications
ITIL, RHEL or MCSE or other relevant certifications are desirable
Must Have
Must be willing to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis with the team.
Must be willing to travel – both short-term and long-term
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language
