Quality Software Engineer for Analytics 

Job Summary:  

Our Data Science Engineering team develops advanced analytics that run inside the massively-parallel, linearly-scalable enterprise class Teradata data warehouse to bring insights to enterprises. As a member of the Data Science Engineering team, the candidate will leverage your knowledge and work closely with the engineers who develop the Teradata Analytics Platform analytic functions (Machine Learning, Statistical, Text, and others) to gather test requirements, execute test plans, and perform both manual and automated testing on a variety of analytic functions to ensure that they are of the highest quality. Teradata’s Analytics Platform functions are enterprise quality distributed and highly parallel functions that can process massive data at linear scalability and high performance.  

Job responsibilities  

  • Functional testing of complex analytic functions which includes designing test scenarios, creating test plans, implementing, automating and executing test cases. 
  • Test the analytic functions for scalability and performance. 
  • Test the analytic functions for accuracy which requires writing scripts in python and R 
  • Identify and propose areas of improvement throughout the software development process. 
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. 
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders. 

Qualifications 

  • MSc in Computer Science / Statistics / Mathematics 
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning Algorithms 
  • At least 2 years of software testing experience 
  • At least 2 years of experience with relational databases and SQL 
  • At least 2 years of programming experience in Python and shell scripting. 
  • Working experience on Linux environments. 
  • Passion for high quality standards and knack for identifying tests that break code. 
  • Ability to identify and clearly document software defects with complete and accurate information for developers to reproduce and debug the issues 
  • Ability build and run test automation in a CI/CD pipeline 
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects  
  • Ability to collaborate closely and effectively with the team and across functional groups  
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience with Teradata database. 
  • Working knowledge of Agile development practices and working in scrum teams. 
  • Experience using test frameworks. 
  • Strong grasp of operating systems concepts including filesystems, networks, and memory management.
