Job summary

The Director, Business Transformation is a key leadership position in our Corporate Strategy organization.  This role provides active direction to achieve Teradata’s corporate strategy through a variety of means including, but not limited to – advising on strategic opportunities and alignment, transformation office process management activities, special projects, market and competitive research/benchmarking, and driving cross-functional execution. 

As a member of the transformation office, you will be involved in all facets of the transformation cadence including workstream check-ins, transformation steering committee material preparation, progress report generation, and business case development and review.  Additionally, you will own special projects which may include business operations process improvement, cost savings benchmarking and cost initiative pipeline development, and other strategic business challenge problem solving, action planning and delivery.    

Primary responsibilities

  • Effectively utilizes a “challenger” mindset to stretch initiative team thinking, eliminate roadblocks, align on decisions, and coordinate the solution between the TO and workstreams
  • Owns the production of standard reporting and cadence to drive workstream accountability and commitments
  • Ensures customized change management plans are in place, vetted with Field leaders, and adjusted on-the-fly as required
  • Lead cross functional teams in tackling and resolving key initiatives or projects that are critical to strategy success
  • Tackle ambiguous challenges by structuring and framing problems, executing research as needed to collect relevant data, and preparing an assessment of potential go-forward options
  • Help build and maintain a cost savings initiative pipeline
  • Drive, direct, monitor and contribute to critical strategic initiatives
  • Influence key stakeholders and act as a strategic advisor on key areas of focus to enable Teradata’s strategy
  • Provide oversight and guidance to projects and actions of high importance
  • Balance and influence multiple competing priorities and individuals
  • Foresee and address/mitigate organizational risks and takes to action to prevent
  • Create and maintain cross-organizational relationships to enable strategy team success

 Minimum requirements and qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or 15+ years of equivalent experience; MBA degree preferred
  • Cross-functional project team management – experience leading project teams comprised of multiple business functions operating out of multiple locations and driving successful completion of work
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to craft notes that distill key messages and draft executive leadership team presentations
  • Strong prioritization skills – ability to focus their work and that of their colleagues on the highest priority elements to ensure that team avoids low value activities and delivers work in timely manner
  • Strategic thinker who can tackle ambiguous problems, bring definition and clarity to define a go-forward strategy, as well as translate strategy into company-wide operational initiatives
  • Detailed and process oriented; with ability to work on both strategic and tactical initiatives
  • Proven ability to quickly build rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholders across the organization at every level
  • Ability to balance and influence multiple competing priorities
  • Technology industry experience is desirable but not required
  • Demonstrate personal and professional values consistent with Teradata’s values
