Senior Director of Program Management

 Summary

This position is responsible for Teradata’s Portfolio Review process and operating mechanism.  A wing-tip to wing-tip Program Management approach is required to understand all aspects of our Portfolio from Concept through Commercialization.  Teradata has a rich Suite of products, including our Vantage platform and applications.  This position is responsible for the cross-functional business intersections of Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Services and Support. The individual in this position must ensure all dependencies and requirements are met for successful launch of offering. This position will work with each of these organizations at the Officer and Senior VP levels to ensure proper metrics for tracking Portfolio performance are being met.  The role will also drive cross-organizational programs that require coordination across the company to drive them to successful completion. Further, the role will transform the organization into an agile data driven organization. 

 

Key Responsibilities   

Define and manage the Portfolio Management process (Teradata Unified Offering Life Cycle) for Teradata’s entire product line from Concept to Commercialization developing best practices and applying continuous improvement in everything we do.

Ability to work closely with content drivers including Product Managers, Customer Services, Engineering and Finance to ensure content is meaningful, complete and tied off with all stakeholders.

Guide program managers to cover all aspects of the deliverables for the roadmap from Product Management, Engineering, training, publications, customer services, professional services, and Teradata partner products, to bring a product through the program realization process and to final general customer availability (GCA).

Work closely with product operations leadership team to ensure that the products releases are coordinated seamlessly, end to end.

Work closely with Product Management and monitor business case performance.

Lead, motivate, coach and inspire a large team of software program management professionals with various levels of experience.

Develop the discipline of Program Management and continue to nourish this craft so that it continues to expand.

 

Requirements

The desired candidate will be a change agent who can work with cross-functional business stakeholders to streamline processes with a goal of simultaneously improving our flow of products through the Portfolio with emphasis on delivering value for customer faster. Candidate would have held similar position at a SaaS product development organization of similar size, delivering products using agile methodologies.

Passionate about the challenges of understanding how highly complex, massively parallel processing systems behave.

Have the dynamic ability to influence at many levels of the organization, across multiple disciplines, understanding what is important to each audience. This candidate will have very high emotional intelligence and anticipate challenges.

Should conflicts arise, this candidate will be able to deftly look for win-win scenarios and produce options.

Active and generous listening is a must.

Experience in building and leading high performing teams. Passionate advocate of Program Management with demonstrated experiences where they have grown the program.

Proficiency in working with extremely large data sets in a distributed computing environment.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate and simplify advanced analytical concepts and complex quantitative analysis in a concise, clear and actionable manner.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 15+ years’ experience in a complex global organization with 8+ years’ experience with multi-million dollar business programs and 3 of those years directing, leading, or managing transformation programs.

Master of Business administration, advanced technical degree or equivalent work experience is desired.

Prior experience in leading large-scale global transformational projects or programs requiring significant culture change

PMP certification preferred.

Mastery of various agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, Lean agile principles.

Ability to establish stakeholder relationships across the organization.

Managed programs in SaaS, PaaS, Cloud Applications, Web Architecture, Data Science, etc.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite.

Experience with a tool set for portfolio, program and engineering such as Aha!, PPM, Jira, Rally, etc.

Must be able to complete detailed work, organize efficiently and team effectively.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of producing results in a team environment

Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
