External Description:

The BI Support Engineer specializes in the maintenance and operations of the Business Intelligence Environment to ensure it operates efficiently and continues to meet the needs of the customer. He/She is responsible for providing support to customers, analyzing, identifying and fixing software problems, answering complex questions on function and usage of a product; he/she is focused on application solutions portfolio, which includes but is not limited to custom developed BI solutions on the Teradata RDBMS or any other RDBMS such as web dashboards, Hadoop Applications, or ISV applications.

The BI Support Engineer may be the Project Tech Lead on a project. Operating as a senior member of the Managed Services team, he/she will be responsible for maximising the efficiency of the BI environment, working with the customer on adhoc development requests and providing technical expertise to fix issues to the production deployment.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Custom-developed BI solutions support (including documentation and customer guides).
  • Organizing the process of datamart efficiency monitoring.
  • Solving customer problems using developers’ support.
  • Business users consulting on deployed solutions and applications.
  • Customer requirements for reporting and analytic dashboards definition and analysis.
  • Daily control of data generation and transformation procedures.
  • Applications administration: statistics monitoring, performance & capacity control.
  • Datasources analysis to meet customer requirements for reporting and analytic dashboards.
  • Datamart prototypes development (using SQL) to meet customer requirements for reporting and analytic dashboards.
  • QlikSense script of data load development and building QlikSense data model.
  • QlikSense visual reports development.
  • Customer user guides for QlikSense dashboards and reports creation and coordination.

 

Skills

  • Knowledge of Architecture Principles, Advocated Positions, Design Patterns, and Implementation Alternatives of Enterprise Data Warehouse architecture, including layers, data extract/load, ETL tools.
  • Deep knowledge of SQL (window & analytical functions). Proven experience of working with SQL for 2+ years.
  • Data modeling concepts knowledge (start schema, 3rd normal form) and experience.
  • In depth knowledge of Business Intelligence tools; proven experience of year or more in development projects using one of the following tools: QlikSense, Power BI, Oracle BI, Tableau.
  • University graduate (higher education level).
  • Nice to have: Application integration skills. Experience working with Kafka.
  • Nice to have: Experience of working with one of ETL tools: SAS DI, Informatica, IBM DataStage with Dev Studio. Ability to open a stream and understand how it works.
