Managed Services Technical Consultant
Location: Zurich, Switzerland
Teradata Customer Support & Services (CS&S) and Managed Services (MS) assumes broad operational responsibility for a customer’s Teradata environment under contracted Service Level Agreements. The CS&S and MS Team requires a technical resource skilled in Systems Management, knowledgeable in Database Administration, and willing to be part of a 24x7 support team.
Systems Management: Candidate should have working knowledge of system level tasks to include: configuring, monitoring, and supporting Operating Systems (OS – Linux SUSE and RedHat, Windows), planning of system level patching and upgrades, basic hardware knowledge, configurating system parameters, implementing security levels (hardening), managing User and Access management on Backup and Restore Systems, System Monitoring Software and ELT Servers (ODI), performing Backup and Recovery, and creating system reports.
Database Administration (DBA): Candidate should understand the operational aspects of relational databases, data models and ideally knowledge of Teradata tools and utilities (TTU) used for administration of the client environment. Candidate should have working knowledge of Database Administration processes and tools to include:
- Understanding of relational databases, data warehouses, Big Data databases
- Space Management
- Physical Data structure Management
- Data Management
- Teradata Viewpoint
- SQL language
- Backup and Recovery (BAR) support
- TTU and other utlities
24x7 Support Team: Candidate must be part of a 4-person team providing 24x7 services to client and willing to be On-call
The Technical System Management/DBA resource should have a history of successful employment and escalating responsibilities in System Management and Database Management. Additionally, the candidate must be a strong written and verbal communicator who is comfortable participating in technical meeting discussions and willing to present technical reports/presentations. We are looking for a self-motivated, service-oriented candidate with a ‘Can Do’ attitude.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience managing and resolving work requests, change requests, incidents, and escalations
- Solid Understanding of Cloud and Server technology
- Backup and Recovery Knowledge
- Strong communicator, both written and oral
- 10+ years of experience in computer technology or related fields
- BS/BA degree in Business Technology, Computer Science, or Management. Advanced degree desirable
- Must speak German and English languages proficiently
- Swiss citizen or permanent resident (C-permit)
- Experience working as System Administrator or DBA in Teradata Environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of Teradata tools and utilities to support Database Administration tasks
