Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the world's leading data analytics company is looking for an experienced Senior Staff DevOps Architect who is passionate about enabling and accelerating engineering teams by using CI/CD and DevOps to transform the way engineering teams work.  As we seek to build the best data management and analytics systems in the world we know we need to provide engineering teams with the processes and tooling needed to efficiently develop, test, and release Vantage, the next generation Cloud-based data platform that is optimized for cost and performance, while providing elastic compute and storage to process, store, transfer, and protect data great products.  This is your opportunity to be a strategic technology leader that focuses on the “How” part of the engineering function.  How will we empowering engineering teams to work smarter?  How can we streamline development and testing?  How can we have continuous feedback in our product delivery processes?  How do we optimize product deployment in a complicated cloud ecosystem that spans all the major cloud providers and must maintain data security and integrity?  As part of our Product Engineering organization, you’ll collaborate with peers and other leaders to develop and drive execution of strategic initiatives to enable development to more successfully delivery on cloud first data analytics platforms and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead CI/CD and DevOps practices strategy development and defining future state collaboratively with Architecture Council stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and drive for iterative initiatives to improve and modernize development practices and processes to support transition to a cloud first mentality
  • Collaborate with teams across Teradata Product Engineering to understand the current state of their development processes and consider how they may be improved to take advantage of cloud first architectures
  • Evangelize and foster CI/CD and DevOps practices to the Product Engineering organization by driving incremental continual improvement
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams, architects, and other groups
  • Facilitate and Manage Cross Functional Architectural Council governance body

Required Qualifications:

  • Deep demonstrable understanding of the principals and experience implementing CI/CD and DevOps practices including Agile Software Development, Infrastructure as Code, and Configuration as Code
  • Experience influencing software engineering best practices with a team or organization
  • Demonstratable proficiency in at least one modern general-purpose programing language (like Python, Java, Node.js, or Go)
  • Technical skills to architect and design data applications and infrastructures in the cloud. (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Experience and understanding of professional software engineering practices and best practices for full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build and integration processes, software testing, and operations.
  • 6+ years of hands-on software development experience
  • Experience working with automated deployments and source code/configuration management tools (such as GitHub, AWS CloudFormation, Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Vagrant, Terraform, Packer, Consul, Vault, Artifactory, and similar)
  • Ability to collaborate and partner with domain technical leads, architects, product owners, engineers and other functional leads to deliver technology solutions
  • Must be able to work cross-functionally with other internal and external partner teams and organizations
  • Deep passion for quality and customer focus
  • Proven experience building service on at least one of the primary public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Solid skills to encourage confidence, build executive presentations and guide strategic discussions with senior management.
  • Ability to understand and adapt to changing business priorities and technology advancements.
  • Willingness to partner effectively with partners across the company.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technology related field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) required
  • Experience building Image Bakery capabilities
  • Agile Scrum Master and/or Product Owner experience and certification
  • Strong understanding of cloud information security practices and applicable certifications (e.g. CCSP or CISSP)
  • Pervasive knowledge of many CI/CD tooling systems and understanding of the tooling options both proprietary and open source software
  • Cloud Architect Certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, GCP Pro Architect, Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect, Google Certified Professional Cloud Developer)
  • Experience with Docker container related technologies like Kubernetes, Mesos, etc..
