Job Summary 

The downstream sector (Downstream O&G practice includes refining, supply and trading, and retail) has suffered from consolidating information and not integrating data.  This lack of ability to integrate sensor data from refinery systems with business and enterprise data from across the organization has left a lot of money on the ground and increased cost.  And, corporate leadership teams are unable to have a holistic and cross-functional view of their business that spans business units, facilities and disciplines.  

 

Teradata helps our downstream O&G customers by using Teradata Vantage to build near real-time holistic analytics solution for downstream executives, managers, and field teams to improve their understanding of how specific actions impact the overall organization—and the impact on the bottom line. Insightful analytics create the ability to make better, more educated decisions based on data observations. Access to timely “deep analytics” has the potential to improve operational efficiencies where field-decisions are being made. With everyone using the same version of the truth there is no confusion to operations where decisions are being made at the unit level.  When analytics and data science decision models are pushed to front line decisions makers, the knowledge gained yields higher productivity, less time wasted, and greater revenue - all from having a more complete view of the business. 

 

Why Teradata?:  Teradata offers the customer the ability to combine sensor data and historian data with enterprise data sets – at scale, across the whole enterprise.  This allows quarterly and monthly KPIs to become near real time.  Near real time metrics that include updated price sets turn KPIs from lagging to leading indicators and help executives and the field make decisions that impact their business daily.

 

The Account Executive is responsible for end to end strategy for the entire downstream Oil & Gas practice that encompasses the Teradata Vantage strategy of providing a connected multi-cloud data platform to provide enterprise analytics, which enables business transparency and business use cases that create additional gross margin, reduce gross margin erosion, and provide a sustainable cost structure without waste.  He or she is responsible for driving the profitable sales of Teradata solution to prospect accounts in the Refining Industry. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develops and maintains strategy for overall engagement with client to close deals and drive ARR growth 
  • Identify and understand needs of clients and plan/engage the internal resources to strategically position Teradata solutions to match client needs
  • Regularly runs meetings with account team to discuss and align around account strategy and future sales opportunities 
  • Capitalize on downstream O&G industry knowledge and contacts to uncover new business opportunities and position Teradata solutions
  • Develop new business opportunities and close new account business aligned with Teradata sales strategy
  • Effectively advise and influence customers through consultative selling techniques
  • Understands client’s key business initiatives, key problems, and competitive environment and recognizes and can articulate how Teradata solutions could be applied 
  • Rely on excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain C-suite and executive level relationships
  • Knowledgeable of Teradata solutions and services

 

Skills & Attributes 

  • Ideal candidate would have intimate refining knowledge/experience and know use cases that directly resonates with the downstream Industry.
  • A successful candidate should be driven, creative, a self-starter and strategic thinker.
  • Must possess the ability to lead, advise and advocate for customers.
  • Demonstrate account management discipline

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ of refinery experience
  • Understanding of refining personas and business use cases appropriate for each persona
  • 5+ years’ refinery experience selling software & services specifically in the analytics and data management space
  • Demonstrated success in sales. 75%+ success record for making sales goals
  • Demonstrated success developing new account opportunities to C-Level executives

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor Degree (required). Engineering degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Experience working in refineries and/or supply & trading.
  • Previous experience selling or implementing Analytics, Big Data, and Data Warehousing solutions
