External Description:


The Finance Director for Teradata Transformation will report to Corporate FP&A and work directly with the VP, Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) with shared responsibilities for driving the corporate transformation process.  The Finance Director will play a key role in sizing initiative potential, validating business cases, establishing KPIs and performance baselines, and tracking the financial performance of all initiatives against the baselines.  Beyond sizing, baselining, and tracking, the Finance Director must demonstrate a strong grasp of the financial levers of the business.  S/he must use this knowledge to guide an initiative team’s scope and help them prioritize the highest value focus areas.  The Finance Director will own the development of all materials related to the financial performance of the transformation.  This is a role for someone comfortable constructively challenging colleagues’ ideas – probing to understand then proposing pathways to more efficient impact realization and greater prize size.  The CTO and the initiative teams need a proactive financial partner.   

This role will lead work directly with Teradata’s CTO with responsibility for:

  • Validating the business cases – ensuring all initiative potentials are properly sized and monthly financial impact is properly forecasted
  • Establishing a financial tracking and reporting rhythm with the CTO and initiative owners – inclusive of owning the financial impact calculations based on original baselines vs. current actuals
  • Owning the development of all materials related to the financial performance of the transformation
  • Conveying the financial performance of the transformation in clear and concise formats – written (PPT, email) and verbal
  • Identifying additional potential in an initiative team’s size of prize estimates (or possible double counting) based on knowledge of Teradata business levers and other in-flight projects
  • Assisting with transformation team governance model, progress updates and report outs to ensure success and accountability
  • Highlighting financial trends that could hinder or accelerate financial impact


  • MBA with 10+ years of related skills and experience that shows a definitive track record of success and growth within one’s career
  • Designed, implemented, and continuously improved financial measurement and reporting cadences
  • Strong budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Experience providing finance support for senior level executives
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles 
  • Proactive engagement of business partners to review, identify and problem solve challenges and opportunities within department budgets / P&Ls / initiative performance
  • Transformation experience in a finance role is a plus
