Data and System Management Consultant
Tijuana, BC (Zona Rio)

We’re building a team of “Data and Systems Management Consultants” which will require Linux and Network Management experience. This team’s role is customer-facing and will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining customer system data collection from customer sites. The consultants will be responsible for contacting and assisting with proper installation, configuration, connectivity, and ongoing maintenance of Linux-based data extraction agents/applications. The consultants will assist with Linux administrative tasks related to data extraction agents and applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure application software is properly installed and configured on Teradata (SLES) and customer Linux Systems/Servers and ensure systems are secured within the context of the agents and applications
  • Assist customers and internal teams in answering questions related to data capture software setup and installation
  • Provide system maintenance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution to ensure reliable and consistent data capture and movement i.e. server-side issues, data/system metrics, error logs, reported errors, etc.
  • Provide back-end database and Linux scripting for specific data capture agents, applications and use cases
  • Work directly with data collection source code to assist with and/or provide necessary changes to the code to ensure reliable performance
  • Manage code change deployment related to code changes and updates to customer environments
  • Conduct system backups according to company or industry standards and adhere to backup schedules that may include weekly, daily, or more frequently backups depending on system space and business needs
  • Monitor data collection and related application performance to prevent data management failures or availability issues including daily traffic logs and reports or respond to issues identified by end-users
  • Works closely with Product Engineering to answer technical questions or resolve issues with server-side performance
  • Support users by assisting with installation and maintenance of Linux-based data collection programs and help troubleshoot data collection applications on existing servers and potentially varied Linux platforms

Technical Skills Required

  • Database and data management scripting Bash, PowerShell, Unix CLI, Python, XML, and JSON
  • Strong Linux or UNIX server configuration, deployment, package installation, maintenance, and general admin tasks (SUSE and SLES OS are preferred)
  • Troubleshooting experience and exceptional critical thinking/problem-solving required
  • Best Practices for ITS and ITIL knowledge (DevOps experience preferred)
  • Fundamental knowledge around data management, networking, performance analysis, and application development
  • Familiarity with server management and monitoring tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues

Required Background

  • Strong English Communication (Verbal & Written)
  • USA B1/B2 Visa 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a Linux development environment (systems administration a plus)
  • 2+ years’ experience with SLES/SUSE Linux required
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 preferred
  • Previous experience with switches and routers preferred
  • SUSE Certified Linux Professional (CLP) certification a plus
  • CompTIA A+ or Network+ Certification a plus
