Whether a new feature or a microservice, you’ll use modern methodologies and open source tools in an Agile environment to drive design, implementation, testing, and release.

 

Teradata, the world's leading data analytics company is looking for an experienced Senior Staff Cloud Engineer who is passionate about building innovative cloud services. Responsibilities:

 

Be a Technical lead for a scrum team and drive the service design and development.

Design, Implement and Operate highly-scalable, fault-tolerant, elastic and secure end-to-end cloud service.

Build low-friction APIs, intuitive CLIs, and the backend support.

Using professional software engineering practices and best practices for full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build process, testing, and operations.

Provide regular reports on how Cloud architecture and application design are impacting development, quality, operations, and performance.

Communicate effectively with other engineering teams, QA, PMs and senior leadership team.

Evaluate new technologies, cloud native services and define long term strategic investments and feature roadmaps.

 

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field or equal experience)

Demonstratable experience in at least one modern general-purpose programming language (like Python, Java,)

10+ years’ experience in professional Software Engineering, including agile development, in a team lead role.

• Experience developing distributed systems and cloud services that are scalable, reliable, secure, and supportable in AWS.
• Experience with REST API design and development, Software Containerization and Serverless Computing
o RESTful API consumption and design (Build & consume services)
o Software Containerization techniques like Docker, K8s
o Serverless Computing using AWS Lambda
• Experience in engineering practices such as design patterns, continuous integration, unit test, application security, configuration management (Ansible, Chef), and code reviews
• Experience developing telemetry, metrics and usage analysis through the use of monitoring and logging tools (like New Relic, Cloud Watch, Data Dog, ELK stack etc.). Familiar with the challenges surrounding efficient operations and failure mode analysis in large complex distributed systems.

Must be able to work cross-functionally with other internal and external partner organizations
