System Performance Analyst

The ideal candidate will possess strong system-level analytical skills and an excellent understanding of methodologies and tools used to monitor and measure system performance. This role requires good resource management skills to balance progress on multiple projects. You will have the opportunity to solve real world customer problems, learn a wide variety of new technologies, and to gain a detailed understanding of the internals of industrial strength data warehouse and analytics data solutions. To be successful, you should be a self-starter who can quickly learn new technologies and dig deep into technical issues. What you get to do in this role:
Performance Analysis
Use your analytical skills to monitor and measure system performance across multiple subsystems (CPU, memory, storage, networks, etc.)
Demonstrate your excellent analytical trouble shooting skills to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to identify the root cause of an issue and to suggest how to resolve it
Automation Development
Develop and maintain automation for analyzing and testing system behavior based upon changes in configuration and underlying technologies
Database Development, Administration, and DevOps
Expand your fluency in several cross-disciplinary technologies including databases, OS, networking, software, and test automation
Create SQL scripts and to perform database administration
Build your working knowledge of and/or direct programming experience in LAMP (Linux / Apache / Middleware / Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby) environments
Build and maintain automated test and analysis pipelines using Jenkins
Teamwork
Be a self-starter with a quick learning curve on different technologies and processes
Work with cross-functional teams, to build consensus on issues, and to drive projects to completion
Be a team player who can quickly find common ground and solve problems for the good of all
Become an advocate for software quality who designs good tests, and makes recommendations to increase the quality and testability of the software
Basic Qualifications:
- US Permanent Residence
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in LINUX/UNIX internals, systems development, or system-level analysis
- Experience with client/server based application development
- Software development experience in C/C++, Python, Perl, and/or other languages
- Comfortable with working with and analyzing large amounts of data
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with LINUX internals
- C language analyst and developer skills
- Experience with the setup, configuration, and connectivity of network and storage systems and related software
- Experience with benchmarking and related performance analysis
- Experience with writing SQL based queries in support of creating and modifying test cases to create targeted workloads
- Experience with test automation (automating unit test cases, Test Driven Development, etc)
- Experience with DevOps (CI/CD, monitoring, provisioning and deployment, Jenkins, Ansible, etc)
- Experience with secure coding practices – knowledge of threat models, and compliance
- Familiarity with the design and architecture of distributed system applications and scalable system design
- Advanced level skills with Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean, Kanban, SAFe, etc)
