Position Title: Software Engineer (III)

External Description:

The Teradata Digital Marketing web operations team is seeking a backend web engineer to develop large scale websites. The sites you build and maintain reside on the Kentico content management system utilizing the ASP.NET MVC and Web Forms frameworks. Teradata’s external global websites are mission critical for our business, and not only need to run, but run well, around the world, across various browsers & devices. The successful candidate for Back-End .NET Web Developer at Teradata will demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of the software development lifecycle and be able to learn fast, code well, and adapt to new technologies and systems. This position can be virtual, but if local to our San Diego office, would like to have you join the team in office (post-COVID-19).

Key Responsibilities

  • Backend development of Teradata Digital Marketing’s content management system (Kentico) powering more than 25 global corporate websites
  • Develop, modify, and implement web parts, widgets, templates, and other web components
  • Analysis, requirements gathering, design of technical specifications, coding, testing, and support of new and existing database-driven web applications
  • Ensure top-notch quality is delivered in every code release
  • Provide troubleshooting as needed and develop improvements in process and code
  • Perform maintenance on database-driven web applications
  • Ensure the web design concept is aligned with back-end functionality, and web pages are optimized for maximum efficiency and consistency across all externally facing web pages in Teradata’s international digital ecosystem.
  • Build and consume REST-based and SOAP web services
  • Maintain full project life-cycle tasks, such as business/technical analysis, designing, coding, testing, and implementation plans
  • Daily platform work in our CMS, as well as leveraging our other enterprise tools for analytic capture and reporting, personalization, video delivery, and SEO
  • Conduct code reviews with team members to advance application and web framework
  • Optimize web pages for maximum speed and scalability.

Skills & Attributes

  • Enterprise Content Management Experience (Kentico, etc) and web application development
  • Immediate understanding and knowledge of how to apply MVC
  • Ability to collaborate with a geographically diverse team operating within a SCRUM/Agile environment
  • Ability to multi-task, analyze, and problem solve
  • Implementation of 3rd party APIs and SDKs
  • SVN / GIT source control and automated build tools
  • Experience in developing client-side tools with JavaScript
  • Writing and interacting with SOAP, REST, and micro-services

Basic Qualifications

  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Must be digitally savvy and optimize with performance in mind
  • Can juggle multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to participate in phone conferences at potentially inconvenient times in order to accommodate our international audiences
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work on projects independently as well as with a team
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • 9+ years direct back-end web development experience
  • 4+ years working with MS SQL Server and developing SQL stored procedures
  • Agile sprint methodology
  • HTML5, CSS3, Vanilla JavaScript implementation and development
  • Multi-tier web application development
  • Visual Studio, ASP.NET Core, C# MVC, and Web Forms
  • Object-oriented programming concepts
  • Source control experience (SVN & GIT)
  • AJAX and API web services
  • Stored procedures, T-SQL (Transform Services and Database Design)
  • Regular expressions and URL rewriting
  • VM environments

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Javascript frameworks such as Vue.js, AngularJS, or jQuery
  • DevOps CI/CD, build code for maximum performance, minification, and efficiency
  • SASS/LESS CSS preprocessor
  • NPM, GitHub, Gulp, TeamCity, Resharper, Docker and micro-services
  • Content Delivery Networks (Akamai, Edgecast, etc)
  • Managing IIS and database servers
  • Using enterprise content management systems with multi-culture language localization
  • Experience with web analytics platforms, (i.e., Celebrus, Adobe Analytics/Omniture, Google Analytics and Tag Manager), comfortable pulling data and actionable insight from logs and reports
  • International and geo-graphically-diverse working environment; must have sensitivities to local culture, language variations), ability to work well with—and garner support from—many different people from many different backgrounds and cultures
  • Project management tools experience (Jira, Basecamp)
