Position Title: Technology Consulting III

External Description:

Teradata Application DBA
Raleigh, NC

There are multiple DBA areas of specialization including infrastructure and production operations, however, the focus of this position is to provide Applications DBA services in support of ETL and BI development teams for a large Teradata customer with significant in-process development projects. This person will work as part of a team and collaborate closely with customer application developers and DBAs in support of development projects and specific tasks that will be assigned to TD Managed Services. There will also be required interface with customer’s production DBA’s and our Global Consulting Center staff who provide offshore support. The ability to communicate well, determine requirements, co-ordinate and assign work, advise the customer on Teradata development best practices, and perform physical data modeling.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship or Green Card Holder
  • 8+ years of work experience in technology or related field within the last 8 years
  • Hands-on Teradata experience working as a production infrastructure, application, or development DBA
  • BS/BA degree in Business Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Math, Statistics, or Engineering
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office components and personal computers (for
  • generating the many reports required by the customer)
  • Teradata Masters Certification
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience managing and resolving work requests and change requests

Preferred Requirements:

  • System Performance tuning and capacity planning experience, including production and interpretation of PMCP Reports in order to determine the causes of poor performing code
  • Expert knowledge of Teradata Database optimization techniques
  • Experience with translating logical models to optimal physical models
  • Experience advising developers and development teams from design through the build phase
