Teradata Application Operations and ETL Consultant

 

Role Description

 

The Teradata Applications/ETL Consultant specializes in the operations, design, and development of the ETL environment, processes, programs, and scripts. This individual must have the skills necessary to understand the overall data warehouse architecture. The consultant designs, builds, operates the ETL environment with the specific toolset required by the client. The consultant may also provide input to the database designer to optimize the data loading of the physical database.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

 

• Implementation and support of data warehouse workload including but not limited to:
  • Monitoring and control of application jobs
  • Job scheduling
  • Workflow maintenance
  • Error control, rectification and rerun
  • Physical design optimization
• Recommend design/implementation enhancements in job design for performance optimization
• Plan, coordinate and implement necessary actions through the agreed upon incident and change management controls.
• Plan, coordinate and implement workload/job releases on the data warehouse platform
• Plan and participate in service reviews with the client
• Capture ETL requirements and work on the design, development, test, and go-live activities
• Design the processes to meet service level agreements for data timeliness and frequenc

• In depth knowledge of ETL tools
• In depth knowledge of operations management and control
• In depth knowledge of data warehousing concepts and appliances
• Working knowledge of ETL tools
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrable experience in supporting large-scale data processing platforms
• Working knowledge of ITIL concepts
