Global Inventory Planner
Location: Tijuana, BC, Mexico

The Teradata Global Logistics Planner is a key member of an experienced team of support analysts, focused on management and execution Teradata’s global inventory/asset planning processes. The successful candidate will have a solid foundation/understanding of the supply chain management functions along with the ability to manage these functions on a global level. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, professional, and experienced inventory planner/scheduler who is ready to contribute to Teradata’s success.

Work You’ll Do

Demand Forecasting:

Forecast demand based on historical data, as well as past, current and projected install base as indicated by production forecast/ schedules. Provide forecast to suppliers as required.

Lifecycle Management:

Facilitate the process of new product provisioning communicating with internal Production Associates, Service Planning and Customer Service teams to ensure spares availability at the time of initial product release. Analyze part discontinuations for final buy recommendations and execution of financial investment to ensure ongoing support for 7 years past product discontinuation.

Inventory Optimization:

Collaborate with the field analyst to validate target stock levels (MASP) for each part at each stocking location in the logistics network using total cost/ inventory optimization goals. Review and understand engineering change (EC) documents within Agile to fully understand spare parts family relationship structure. Inquire with engineering as necessary to ensure accuracy of spares set up. Manage spares inventory scrapping from DC’s and CCW’s based on inventory levels and forecasted support through the life of the product.


Manage replenishment and redeployment orders to balance inventory in the logistics network by calculating real and potential cost savings and managing SLA fulfillment. Monitor and action past due orders and supplier issues with supply line management. Collaborate with field analyst on part shortages and escalations to ensure timely resolution of issues for adequate spares to support the field customer base.

Supply Order Management:
Generate recommended inventory orders, new buy/ warranty repair, based on forecasted stock levels, lead time, minimum order quantities and other netting criteria to execute and balance the inventory plan while controlling cost with maximum support to field service.

Collaborate with engineering, service planning and CS on mandatory FRO activities including spares ordering, field inventory purge requirements and management of FRO stock returns to the vendor upon completion of FRO.

Returns Forecasting:

Forecast returns (good and defective) in support of future warranty/repair order planning, ensuring defective inventory are used as a source of supply while applying yield rates and scrapping.

Logistics Network Management:

Build relationships/ connections with services planning, engineering and GSO for the ability to gain knowledge for optimal spares planning (usage increased/decreases, spare part relationships, spares testing requirements, FRO, EOL and failure analysis)

Continuous Improvement:

Improve business process through continuous research and review of current practices and/or systems to drive efficiency and reduce cost.

Your Background

The ideal candidate has a strong logistics foundation and experience in asset management. A business professional with strong interpersonal and communications skills, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to plan and organize.

  • Fluent in English (Excellent verbal, written and visual presentation skills)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Logistics, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of global inventory planning processes
  • Cultural awareness
  • USA B1 Visa Required (or ability to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications – NOT Required

  • Logistics planning experience in Oracle Demantra, Oracle SPP, Servigistics, Xelus, or a related planning application (preferably globally)
  • Oracle, Excel, Word, and Access
  • Experience in data analysis
