Teradata is currently looking to fill the role of Global Proposal Manager. The role reports to the Global Head of Commercial Operations, who reports to the Senior Vice President of GTM Operations. The Global Proposal Manager will lead the design, development and ongoing evaluation of Teradata’s Global RFx bid and proposal processes working closely with Regional Revenue Operations Directors and Sales leaders to identify and qualify various proposal requests.

This role’s responsibilities include:

  • Lead Regional Proposal teams to deliver comprehensive, persuasive winning proposals in a short cycle time. This involves defining, developing and coaching the team to respond to a highly technical request from external customers.
  • Collaborate and Coordinate a Global Proposal development process with matrixed Region-based and Offshore team to deliver an on-time winning proposal.
  • Ensure that Regional Proposal support teams are producing customer facing documentation that is consistently of a high quality and protects or enhances the Teradata brand.
  • Institutionalize RFx proposal best practices.
  • Ensure the globally defined and consistent RFx process development process is followed with documented requirements, owners and responsibilities in the RFx process.
  • Oversee the management of multiple RFx proposal development activities simultaneously.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of field templates and field knowledge library working across Business Units and cross-functionally to develop RFx proposal knowledge base, template library and supporting field training to enable scalable work processes as well as right and fast reporting and financial roll-up.
  • Develop and implement a plan to optimize and automate the RFx proposal development process and enabling greater self-sufficiency.
  • Track and report status of all Global RFx elements to proposal team. Anticipates possible trouble areas and works to provide practical solutions to problems as they arise.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the organization's products and/or services while remaining current on all individual country laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure quality RFx proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with required RFx proposal deliverables.
  • Compliance with management systems and accreditations.
  • Required but limited International travel

Technical Competencies

A Proposals background, with specific experience of utilizing best practices in the compilation of proposal documents and presentations, demonstrating:

  • A good understanding of the opportunity management and bid process
  • Ability to work with Proposal Management and GTM Tools team to build vision for future-state proposal management tools and processes.
  • An appreciation of public and private sector procurement processes specific to individual countries
  • Creativity in the development of bids and proposals
  • Ability to be supportive to the proposal team, recognizing changing priorities

Experience / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years’ work experience
  • Experience in business development and/or business execution (Primary contributors to proposals, such as Pricing, Sales, Program Management, Tech Sales, Engineering).
  • Experience with proposal and content management technologies
  • Thorough working knowledge of a busy Proposals environment essential.
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) Practitioner accreditation (or commitment to achieve within two years).
  • Strong / Advanced PC capability: Microsoft Office; Desktop publishing software; Photoshop; Acrobat.
  • Outstanding communication skills; can tell a story and present to influence/drive message
  • Capable of understanding technical complexity and simplifying in writing and presentation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly build and manage high performing teams.
  • Ability to train others effectively in the proposal process.
  • Motivating people to accomplish difficult tasks in a short time.
  • Able to manage multiple proposal development activities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of large-scale Data Warehousing / Analytics market space (preferred).
  • Experience with working with blue chip / global accounts.
