Your Opportunity

You will be leading the award winning, highly motivated and collaborative QueryGrid Engineering team in Teradata R&D, driving all phases of software development life cycle from software design through customer support for the strategic Teradata QueryGrid product. 

Your Business Objectives would include:

• Accountable for setting goals and timelines to achieve those goals 
• Manages the process, structure and procedure to guide and ensure high quality software development 
• Manages reviews and ensures there is accountability and that the management of projects and stakeholders are in place 
• Allocates and re-allocates resources to projects to ensure its success 
• Manages inter-project and inter-organization dependencies and ensures smooth collaboration with strategic partners 
• Identifies and execute improvement opportunities, both short term and long term, for the team and the organization 
• Facilitates and coaches team members for professional development

Experience, skills, and knowledge requirements:

• BS/BA in Computer Science or related field
• 10+ years of software development, project management, and leadership experience
• 3+ years of people or large team management experience
• Proven leadership skills, ability to lead, plan, and manage multiple competing complex projects. 
• Able to dive into the technical details as needed. 
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both orally and written. 
• Able to work cross-functionally with other internal and external partner organizations. 
• Experienced in managing a diverse group of engineers and geographically dispersed teams. 
• Able to leverage practical means for influencing people without having direct authority. 
• Seasoned in recruitment of candidates for technical positions. 
• Knows when to defer decisions to technical leads. 
• Established background in managing complex software product customer support for big companies, 24/7 worldwide. 
• Good understanding of agile principles, experienced in Scrum development and overseeing multiple scrum teams in the group. 
• Experience with large scale distributed software systems. 
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Quality Control. 

Additional preferred qualifications:

• Experience with parallel database systems such as Teradata and Hadoop 
• Knowledge of big data and data integration 
• Database administration and security control experience 
• Knowledge of network protocols and operation 
• Experience in Cloud environment 
• Extensive experience and strong interest in open source technology stack
