Tableau Administrator

Job Summary:

• Process Monitoring: The Tableau Administrator will monitor the BI application suite and scheduled processes to ensure data access for users. This covers monitoring successful completion of semantic model data processing routines, cube/dashboard refresh, BI reports refresh and data export schedules.  The resource will also perform incident triage on data access issues impacting semantic layers.

• Application Support: Application software, application report, and data issues that cannot be resolved by the operations team are passed to a second-level support team for further analysis and action. After analysis, the second-level support team may resolve the issue (through a change request within operations team, or coordinate a change request back to development teams, warranty teams, or source system teams for resolution.

• Environment Administration:   Administer Tableau and processes associated with Business Intelligence tools and analytic applications to ensure they complete normally. This includes administering users, roles, access rights, objects and monitoring scheduled reports/campaigns. The data purging, housekeeping, and application software processes are also monitored for smooth operations.

• Execution Services: provide ad-hoc query development and report creation based on requirements communicated with client’s business department. This service focuses on supporting client with data access through existing data model or data sourced in BI model.

• Operations Manual Maintenance: Provide regular updates to the Operations Manual as required

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the applications users, groups, and integration with Active Directory
• Automate monitoring & server job processes
• Upgrading (major and minor) versions of Tableau tool across all the environments, Migration and scheduling the extracts.
• Review the production Tableau server cluster for performance and best practice.
• Make recommendations on infrastructure improvements to ensure best performance.
• Perform Regular Disaster Recovery Test
• Investigation of workbook performance issues as & when required, including advice for desktop users
• Monitor email subscriptions
• Manage server health & performance
• Monitor site activity (view counts, etc.)
• Monitor server processes
• Monitor and manage server backups
• Perform remedial tasks as and when required (e.g. Tabcmd /Tabadmin)
• Schedule server downtime and communicate to stakeholders

 

Basic Qualifications:

• Computer Science or Engineering graduate
• Minimum 6-7 years of relevant IT experience.
• Minimum 3 years of Tableau hands-on experience
• Working experience in Tableau Support and/or Administration
• Working experience in taking back ups and restoration of Tableau repository
• Working experience on any of the RDBMS like Oracle//DB2/Netezza/Teradata/Others
• Good knowledge on Tableau Metadata tables
• Must be willing to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis with the team.
• Good oral and written communication skills in the English language
• Good team player
• Must be willing to travel – both short-term and long-term

Desirable Skills:

• Expert in Tableau Server Management (like Clustering, Load Balancing, User Management etc.)
• Expert on Tableau server licensing
• ITIL, CISSP or other relevant certifications are desirable
