Job Summary
The Financial Planning Analyst is responsible for providing monthly and quarterly financial analysis, quarterly outlook, annual and long-range plan development, management reporting, and other general financial planning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Collects and presents financial data for use in business review, planning, reporting and monthly outlook processes. Prepare and analyze financial outlooks and operating results
Develop Monthly Outlook
- Work closely with operating management to develop outlook P&L
- Review outlook against results for validation of achievability
- Review risk in outlook and determine how to reduce risk
- Develop contingency plans as needed
- Provide Senior management with timely, relevant and actionable financial and operational reporting and forecasting
- Provide ongoing intra-month updates
Strategic Long Range Plan (SLRP)
- Review historical results to determine future trends
- Operationalize long range plan
- Determine hiring implications for meeting plan parameters
Annual Plan
- Develop plan P&L and Capital plan
- Develop headcount plan aligned with expense plan
- Determine calendarization and allocation methodologies
- Perform gap analysis and consolidation
- Apply Accounting changes
- Complete/load/submit plan template
Process & System Improvements
- Review strengths and weaknesses of planning processes and tools
- Prioritize improvements based on planning cycle
- Improve the planning process through automation or eliminating non-value add activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related business discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Finance or Finance-related specialties, cross functional projects.
- Demonstrated financial/analytical skills gained through formal education or work experience.
- Advanced data management and reporting skills. Highly experienced in using automated data and reporting tools including Business Objects, Power BI, EDW, Hyperion.
- Ability to manipulate data to analyze, format and arrive at meaningful analysis to lead business discussions.
- Excellent communication skills and business partnering skills. Ability to clearly communicate and actively engage business partners related to financial issues on hand.
- Self-motivated and driven to identify opportunities for improvement and execute changes.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Knowledge of Business Objects, Hyperion, Oracle
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work under pressure and due dates
