External Description:

The Front-End Engineer performs user interface programming. A Front-End Engineer develops the front end of applications and ensures that they are easy and intuitive for users to run. The Front-End Engineer helps create and program interfaces that are clear and logical and provide access to the features of the program as designed.

Front End Engineers are heavily involved with the actual programming of the user interface, but they may also be asked to offer input into the design. A Front-End Engineer may need to work in a design capacity and should be able to create and integrate a user interface with the applications being used. Front End Engineers have a strong proficiency in multiple programming languages.

The Front-End Engineer may be the Project Tech Lead on a project.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Gathering and evaluating user requirements
  • Create and be accountable for the user interface programming, workflows, information architecture, and prototypes
  • Program graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets
  • Ensure that the user interface is intuitive, easy to use, provides access to the programs features, and meets all defined requirements
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
  • Perform testing of the developed software to ensure it operates as required
  • Document software designs and specifications to ensure the software is understandable for others on the development team
  • Remain current with the latest programming methods and languages
  • All consultants are expected to build value in themselves. Teradata’s extensive library of both instructor led and web based training provides ample opportunity for the consultant to build and maintain marketable skills. Time has been allocated specifically for this task and each consultant is expected to have a ‘Learning Plan’. Progress against the learning plan is part of the annual appraisal
  • All consultants are expected to build value in their practice through the contribution and reuse of consulting assets. After each assigned project, a consultant is expected to evaluate the project deliverables and to contribute those items that may be useful to other consultants that may be assigned similar projects. When a new project is assigned, the consultant will search the asset repository for assets that may improve or accelerate the project delivery
  • Creating front-end of web-based applications written in Angular JS

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of JavaScript and its Angular framework is a must
  • Experience with AnguarJS 1.6 is a definite plus;
  • Experience with User Interface programming
  • Ideally strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks)
  • Knowledge of Covalent UI Platform for building enterprise desktop web apps
  • Team spirit and strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
