Position Overview

The Business Consultant Geo Leader is responsible for all the Business Consultants within a Geo territory. The Business Consultant (BC) is a key member of the Teradata GTM Account team. The BC engages directly with named accounts, working closely together with the other account team members – the Account Executive and Sales Engineer.

The BC responsibility in the triad account team is to front the selling of business capabilities and solutions that leverage Teradata’s Vantage software. Solving complex business and industry problems with software and consulting services. This may be stand-alone projects or larger data management and analytics programs. The BC builds relationships to the customer’s business buyers & influencers, and will be focused on fostering customer business benefits and growth, by solving the data and analytics challenges they face.

The BC Geo Leader is responsible for coaching, developing, and supporting the team of BCs reporting into him/her. The BC Geo Leader is expected to also be personally involved in the most strategic and high potential customer opportunities within the Geo, building trust with key decision makers and supporting the account BC in the selling and closing of innovative services, solutions, and programs that drive recurring Teradata software revenue.

The Business Consultant Geo Leader reports to the Business Consultant Leader for APAC and has a dotted line to the Geo Sales VP. The BC Geo Leader is a member of the Geo LT.

Location

This is a virtual role.  The successful candidate can be based anywhere within the Geo i.e Sydney/Melbourne/Canberra, but will be expected to demonstrate a willingness and an ability to travel frequently and often within the Geo as well as outside in line with the needs of the business and the Practice.

 

Job Specification

The Business Consultant Geo Leader is a critical business leader for Teradata. The leader is responsible for with his/her team of BCs to drive innovation within the target customer and prospect base on how to deliver real business outcomes with data and analytics. The primary objective with this is to drive consumption of Teradata software to the benefit of the customers. In order to accelerate the realization of this, the BC Geo Leader with his/her team will front the selling of assets, solutions, and consulting services at scale, focusing on the largest and differentiating opportunities.

 Specifically, the BC Geo Leader will:

  • Personally lead the Geo Business Consultant team in terms of driving people development, practice initiatives and career development, and serve a coaching role to his/her team
  • Provide thought leadership internally and externally on how Teradata’s offerings can help customers solve their industry and business challenges and deliver real outcomes and ROI
  • Drive and oversee the consulting pipeline for the Geo, including providing business outlook on opportunities, orders and revenue, by consolidating inputs from the BC team and Geo Consulting. Provide guidance to the account teams and sales management on overall revenue, backlog and order forecasting
  • Work closely with the Account Team to qualify opportunities, and with the Geo Consulting organization and to secure the cross-practice teams to build proposals, project estimates, and contracts
  • Continuously optimize the hiring and assignments of BC resources to accounts, ensuring both continuity and right availability of skills
  • Instigate a strong teamwork mentality for the BC team working in the account triads
  • Focus BCs on packaged, value-based services and solutions that drive ROI for the customer and ARR growth for Teradata. Leverage Teradata IP, assets and experience, and adapt pricing behaviors towards pricing for value
  • Consulting Bid Review authority for the Geo, according to Governance Policy
  • Commercial thought leader, driving for high margin services and high customer profitability. Mentor and support BC team on the negotiation and closing of consulting deals
  • Build and maintain customer relationships at senior management and C-level for key accounts
  • Serve as the escalation point and customer success ambassador. Participate in Steering Groups for selected strategic customer projects and programs
  • Drive alignment, collaboration and knowledge sharing throughout the Geo, working closely with the Geo Sales VP, the Geo Tech Leader, and Geo Consulting
  • Drive an innovation culture that promotes new thinking and that enables continuous development and improvement of how we do business
  • Be an active ambassador for the Teradata brand through brand marketing, postings, blogs, and as a speaker at events at conferences
  • Support and promote the full utilization of corporate systems and processes

 This position implies frequent interactions with the customers, working in a combination of physical and virtual office environments, including home, office & customer site. Local travel up to 70% is expected depending on the location of the candidate with respect to the customer(s) site(s).

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will have the following profile:

  • BS, MBA, or MS in business, technical or professional discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Have 10+ years industry experience, including experience of leading a consulting organization;
  • Demonstrate industry thought leadership and the ability to influence and build trust at the C and C-1 level;
  • An acknowledged and consolidated experience within the Data domain (Data Warehouse, BI, Data Management, Data Analytics, Advanced Analytics, Big Data, etc.), being able to create solid and trustful working relationships with customers, and understand their business strategy and priorities, and use Data & Analytics as an enabler to grow their business
  • Deep insight into the Teradata offerings and service portfolio is needed, as well as deep understanding of the customer’s business and industry
  • Be able to lead, manage, motivate and coach an extended team of subject matter experts and practitioners throughout a multi-country organization
  • Experience in overseeing a portfolio of engagements and activities related to consulting business management
  • Demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning and personal development of both themselves and of the extended teams that they manage;
  • Possess good analytical and problem-solving skills and be proficient in the use of both written and spoken business English.
  • Acknowledgement and experience in transformation processes, being able to lead change management initiatives.
