The Director of Customer Experience Center is a highly visible role responsible for the current Teradata Executive Briefing Center (EBC), located in San Diego, CA.  This role reports into the Customer Engagement & Advocacy Vice President and will be responsible for creating an innovative and engaging customer experience in our San Diego facility that demonstrates Teradata’s leadership in the marketplace.  Initial success in San Diego will transfer to London as our 2nd location. 

The Director will be responsible for creating an all new briefing center experience, aligned to Teradata’s refreshed brand.  This role requires strong leadership, brand knowledge, an understanding of sales, as well as experiential design expertise. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, capable of driving change, comfortable and experienced in presenting to leadership, and has revamped a previous customer experience center at least once in their career.  The candidate will collaborate with marketing, sales, consulting, corporate real estate, and third-party agencies to create a dynamic, engaging customer experience helping to accelerate sales.  The director will be responsible for brand experience and developing trusted relationships with executives, account teams and presenters.  The position requires strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills and the ability to communicate to business-critical organizations  within Teradata to ensure the success of the customer experience program. 

You will:

  • Manage highly visible EBC program that helps accelerate sales and nurtures customer relationships.
  • Create and execute a strategy for an all-new, cutting-edge customer experience center and demonstration showcase that brings Teradata’s technology and services to life for business and technology leaders, as well as day-to-day Teradata users.
  • Define the customer experience requirements based on customer insights, corporate strategy, marketing and sales objectives, and EBC/customer experience center industry trends.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Real Estate to design new EBC space, ensuring it meets day-to-day requirements and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with Brand Marketing to ensure the experiential design supports the Teradata brand.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to create a demonstration showcase filled with compelling and interactive content and demos.
  • Create an end-to-end experience that leads a customer from a unique point of view, demonstrating use cases, through to implementation.
  • Develop a world-class customer concierge experience from airport arrival through airport departure.
  • Manage and develop career progression plans of a team of EBC team members versed in meeting logistics, A/V requirements and onsite management, speakers and agenda building.
  • Align sales and marketing metrics and KPIs, attributing EBC customer visits using Salesforce.
  • Define, monitor, implement, and iterate on success metrics and customer and account team surveys to ensure the EBC supports sales acceleration and customer expectations.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years in Sales and/or Marketing required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S./B.A.) required, MBA preferred.
  • Prior IT/High Tech industry experience required.
  • Prior people management of 4+ direct reports is ideal.
  • Must be willing to work in San Diego office five days per week.
  • Experience using digital selling tools and content for customer briefing centers.
  • Experience driving cultural change relating to sales and marketing alignment, preferably within a company moving from perpetual to subscription-based offerings.
  • Experience managing customer engagement through experiential design
  • Experiential and event design experience, bringing forth not only new and innovative ideas, but also effective and impactful execution tactics that will move the needle.
  • Strong program and project management skills, managing vendors, cross-functional marketing and cross-department teams.
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of experiential technology.
  • Understanding of, and ability to navigate, corporate real estate and construction projects.

  • Traversed sales and marketing, understanding where marketing messages and customer experience meets sales conversations.
