Sr. Financial Data Analyst

External Description:

Teradata Corporation is a provider of database and analytics-related products and services. Internally, Teradata’s CFO organization loads much of its financial data into database tables, with which are used for financial reporting and analysis.

 

The Financial Information Delivery (FID) team prepares queries for standard and ad-hoc reporting needs for the CFO organization. There are separate database tables for such areas as: General Ledger, Revenue, Orders, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, etc. The Sr. Financial Data Analyst is intended to be a subject matter expert on the available data elements within these tables and builds queries/reports to analyze financial data for the accounting and finance teams within the company.

 

The queries/reports are used by hundreds of users in analyzing financial results, as well as for preparing disclosures for Teradata’s quarterly and annual reports.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare queries/reports for analyzing accounting and financial results of the company.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on the available financial data, and query building techniques, so they can help users within the company with various reporting needs.
• Help prepare reports for senior management and for use in SEC filings.
• Act as a liaison with the company’s IT department when system updates are implemented, and when new data is being integrated into the database tables.
• Provide audit support to internal and external auditors, as needed.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.

 

Experience Required

• 5+ years of relevant financial analysis, accounting and/or systems experience.
• Strong analytics capabilities, working with large data sets.
• Advanced spreadsheet and database knowledge.
• Experience with building queries using SQL, VBA-Excel, familiarity with Teradata Data Warehouse environments and/or BusinessObjects preferred.
