Position reports to the VP Product Management, Analytical Ecosystems.
We're seeking an experienced Senior Director of Product Management. This position is responsible for all aspects of product planning, positioning, and release of a set of products of the Teradata Analytical Ecosystem.

The candidate must be a quick learner with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced and ever-changing environment. 

You and your team will be responsible for working with the technical architect and development team to build a new kind of platform to drastically simplify how developers build the world’s most powerful analytical platforms.

Key Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Mange the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities for a set of products
  • Define the product strategy, prioritize the backlog, identify go-to-market principles, and owning the customer success stories of the Analytical ecosystem
  • Drive product requirements to satisfy customer needs and company strategic objectives 
  • Work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, professional services, customer support, documentation, and training teams to make sure all needs of the organization are addressed 
  • Assist in program management activities with cross functional teams required to ensure smooth release cycles 
  • Brief prospects, customers, analysts, 3rd party influencers, and partners on the vision and strategy
  • Participate on the UDA (Unified Data Architecture) Product Advisory Council, an organization made up of customer representatives 
  • Track progress against success metrics and goals and escalate potential risks or arising issues

The successful candidate will: 

  • Experience managing team(s) of Product Managers (local and remote) 
  • Have product management experience with application platforms 
  • Understanding of Platform as a Service or Software as a Service architecture 
  • A grasp on defining products and complimenting strategies that follow cloud-first principles for public, private and/or hybrid environments 
  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills 
  • Be able to work with people across all aspects of the company 
  • Experience in Agile and fast-paced/iterative development environments, specifically Scrum methodologies 
  • Have experience with developing market driven epic and user stories, functional requirements, and specifications 
  • Have knowledge of software release processes with the ability to apply it to the deployment process and the evaluation of future release enhancements 
  • Have exceptional ability to impact and influence business results where cross group collaboration is required using strong facilitation and consensus building skills 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • US Permanent Residence
  • BS in engineering, computer science, business or related discipline 
  • 8+ years of experience in product management of computer software, or related area 
  • 8+ years of experience in the software development /engineering industry 
  • Demonstrated understanding of development methodologies and technologies 
  • Basic understanding of relational database technology and market for on-premise and public cloud
  • Proven ability to execute over the entire product lifecycle guided by performance metrics 
  • 3+ years of experience in managing, mentoring and leading product managers
  • Proven track record of taking a product from conception & definition phase through engineering design and taking it to market
  • Analytical background sufficient for pricing / margin / elasticity analysis

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Masters in engineering, computer science, business or related discipline 
  • Experience managing software development and support life cycles 
  • Technical expertise and outstanding business acumen 
  • Experience with product management of application platforms or similar solutions 
  • Deep understanding of open source data platform technologies and markets to support data integration and analytics tasks at scale: e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes
  • Deep understanding of relational database technology and market 
  • Hands on experience with public cloud technology, and a good market understanding 
  • Familiarity with IoT technologies, use cases and market trends and leading PaaS offerings, e.g. Cloud Foundry and OpenShift 
  • Ability to analyze competitors, do SWOT analysis, and estimate market potential of feature and product 
  • Familiarity with IoT technologies, use cases and market trends and leading PaaS offerings, e.g. Cloud Foundry and OpenShift 
  • Vast experience in the application development environment (Teradata, Oracle, Vertica), ETL, Hadoop and Big Data Solutions, No SQL and operational knowledge of third party GUI and data transformation tools (COGNOS, Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Informatica and others) 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ability to navigate a complex and unstructured cross-functional environment
  • 8+ years of experience in managing, mentoring and leading product managers
  • Profound experience in managing the product life cycle management in AHA
