Our Team

The Virtual Platform & Licensing team within the Shared Services Engineering organization focuses on delivering the Teradata database in private cloud environments, as well as providing software to support Teradata’s licensing and entitlement strategy. We are looking for a candidate to join our fast paced and cutting-edge development organization that is on the forefront of our “Teradata Everywhere” strategy.

Responsibilities:

Supporting Teradata in the cloud is a key part of our “Teradata Everywhere” strategy. Our Data Warehousing solutions need to operate on a greater number of open platforms and as a software only solution. Teradata is committed to offering solutions for a number of public and private cloud environments as well as our traditional on-premise solutions.

This position is for a Software Engineer in the Virtual Platform & Licensing team within the Shared Services Engineering organization. This group is responsible for delivering and supporting the database on VMWare private cloud environments as well as providing software to support Teradata’s licensing and entitlement strategy. The position involves development, integration, functional and performance testing, and fault analysis of our cloud solutions. The engineer will be engaged in concept definition, implementation, support for early engagements and typical life cycle management activities.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and creative software engineer who is ready to participate in an agile team environment and contribute to the success of Teradata. The successful candidate will possess excellent programming skills in emerging technologies such as Python and JSON. A working knowledge of one or more virtual platforms is highly desired. Good oral and written communication skills are also required.

Job Functions:

Member of an agile development team responsible for cloud and licensing support.
Work on tasks as defined by Product Owner such as:
Develop and support functions required to deploy and configure Teradata database and ecosystem.
Develop and support functions required for database recovery within the cloud environment.
Develop and support functions related to software licensing and entitlement.
Develop and support functions related to continuous automated build and test frameworks.

Qualifications:

Experience working in fast paced agile scrum development environment.
Experience with one or more programming and scripting languages including Python, Power CLI, JSON, C/C++.
Experience working with hypervisors in a virtual platform environment.
Familiarity with public and/or private cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, VMWare ESXi, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Education and Residency Requirements:
BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 5 years related experience.
US Masters Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 3 years related experience.
US Citizen or Permanent United States Resident preferred.
