External Description:

As a Release & Deployment Manager your responsibility is to control tested and validated changes that are entering the EDW production to have no or minimal impact on production services and operations.

This will be done by having a full overview and leading teams that are conducting thorough testing (Unit Testing and Systems Integration Testing) of all the components that have been changed, provide knowledge transfer to enable operations to run and support the service.

The Release & Deployment Manager is in-charge of the final physical delivery of the change implementation and will provide feedback on the effectiveness of the deployment/back out plan.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Accomplish success criteria for acquiring approvals from all stakeholders
  • Operations Acceptance Process
  • Ensure that the process for approvals was properly followed
  • Deployment – only tested, validated and approved applications will be released
  • Coordination of change requests across different projects running in parallel, and ensuring the timelines are clear to all to avoid conflict on the release weeks impacting cost and quality
  • Providing the best solution of deployment considering time, cost and quality
  • Coordinating test environment creation with Platform architect according to projects/maintenance data demand to provide the optimal deployment on time, cost and quality
  • Supporting Platform architect that the environments are scaled to deliver according to requirements
  • Constant risk management and proactiveness to secure high-quality deliveries and deployments
  • Working close to Test Leads and Project Managers to secure high quality deliveries
  • Supporting optimizations of the release process and the change process
  • Release planning across multiple projects and change request
    • Maintain the release calendar
    • Lead the weekly deployments
    • Manage communication on freeze periods
    • Keep stakeholders updated on status of releases
    • Lead the Go/No-Go forums
  • Ensure documentation and other release artifacts are properly completed
  • Ensure system/product stability after the completion of the warranty period. Obtain signs-offs to ensure handover to maintenance is properly completed
  • Configuration management including deployment management process on SNow, JIRA, VSTS
  • Lead the release and deployment process automation in coordination with various team-members
  • Manage the release process and onboard new team-members and other stakeholders

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in managing deployments across multiple teams
  • Experience with testing and deployment processes
  • Project management experience in a data warehousing environment
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Prior experience in managing releases across multiple teams (projects and managed services) for large global organizations in a data warehouse environment
  • Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts to be able to assess impact and priority of changes and be able to properly communicate with technical client stakeholders
  • Mandatory knowledge of ITIL Release and Deployment Management practices
  • Preferred: ITL v3 foundation certified
