Ecosystem Architect

The Ecosystem Architect is a generalist who understands the conceptual basis across an array of technologies and can explain why they exist and how they fit into a bigger picture.

The Ecosystem Architect can question the customer on their current situation, understand the goal state, and develop a defensible architecture specific to each customer.

The Ecosystem Architect has the highest level of consulting and leadership skills. An Ecosystem Architect can lead from the front of the room from C-level to Client EAs.

 This position requires an Australian Government Security Clearance. A prerequisite for a security clearance is the candidate must be an Australian Citizen and a willingness to undergo a security clearance process.

 Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Be a trusted advisor to the client’s decision makers by establishing credibility and expertise in the technology market and the analytics industry.
  • Represent and position Teradata’s offerings – including the Data Warehouse, Hadoop, Open Source Software, and Cloud Computing – within the broader market and customer contexts.
  • Define and develop the architecture, roadmap, and standards for the Ecosystem Architecture that will align with the customer business and IT objectives.
  • Define and develop the model for integration of all analytic ecosystem components into the client’s Analytic Ecosystem.
  • Define the client’s architecture at the highest levels of the analytic architecture cube - the Conceptual to Logical Layers.
  • Help the client make technology planning and selection decisions, and explain the tradeoffs that are inherent in their choices.
  • Understand the client’s business goals, information needs, application and system requirements, IT plans, and architectures and articulate linkage to the proposed Ecosystem Architecture and application designs.
  • Provide strategic advice to client decision makers on projects they are or should undertake, and help consultants from other practices in that planning.
  • Provide strategic advice to client decision makers on technologies and solutions that will assist them in achieving their corporate goals and objectives.
  • Work with Teradata project managers to scope projects including; costs, project plan, work breakdown structures and risk analysis.
  • Provide architecture thought leadership and actively participate in the design and review of projects.

Technical Skills

  • Technical Generalist with implementation experience. Has been or is now actively involved in technical consulting engagements
  • Teradata and other competitive options - Demonstrated knowledge of Teradata and other competitive options
  • Hadoop and Open Source – Demonstrated knowledge of Hadoop and Open Source options
  • On-Premises and Cloud - Can define architectures covering on-premises, cloud, and hybrid of on-premises combined with cloud
  • Awareness of differences between waterfall systems development and an agile delivery methodology
  • Architecture Framework Expertise – Preferably expertise on Teradata’s Architecture Framework
  • Industry framework certification such as TOGAF, Zachman or FEA is a plus
  • Identifies and Utilises Design Patterns - Promotes reuse through actions, identifies and develops emerging patterns.

  • Articulate and persuasive - Can present as a "front of the room" leader, and influence decisions; can explain technical and architecture concepts in non-technical terms

  • Innovative - Can lead "Art of the Possible" thinking and vision
